Kerry Minors Shine Bright in Electric Ireland Minor Star Team of the Year

While this year’s Electric Ireland GAA Minor Football Championship concluded with a narrow defeat for Kerry in a thrilling final against Tyrone, the Kingdom’s young stars left an indelible mark on the season. With six players named in the prestigious 2025 Electric Ireland Minor Star Football Team of the Year, their excellence, dedication and leadership have been rightly recognised on a national stage.

These young men and their teammates under the leadership of Wayne Quillinan and his team, representing clubs across Kerry, have not only lit up pitches with their footballing brilliance but have also proven themselves to be outstanding ambassadors for Gaelic games. Their passion, commitment, and humility both on and off the pitch have set an example for all young players in the county, embodying what it truly means to wear the green and gold jersey.

We are immensely proud of these players, their teammates and management and we are privileged to share this pride with their clubs and families. Congratulations to them all!

Gearóid White (John Mitchels) led the team with distinction throughout the campaign. A natural leader, his deep footballing intelligence and unwavering work rate inspired those around him. Gearóid’s humility off the pitch is as impressive as his play on it. Whether chasing down every ball or orchestrating the attack with his sharp decision-making, his never-say-die attitude stood out in every fixture.

Ronan Sheridan (Duagh) was a rock at the heart of Kerry’s defence. Fearless and selfless, he consistently put his body on the line to protect the Kerry goal. His composure under pressure and determination to win every duel gave the team a solid foundation to build from.

Danny Murphy (Listry) was the engine room of the team, covering every blade of grass in each contest. His energy was relentless as he burst forward from defence to launch attacks and chip in with crucial points. Danny’s athleticism and endurance were matched only by his desire to leave everything on the field.

David Sargent (John Mitchels) played a pivotal role in linking Kerry’s defence and attack. A commanding presence in midfield, his exceptional fielding and pinpoint kick-passing ensured smooth transitions and created countless scoring opportunities. His calmness and vision under pressure allowed Kerry to dictate the tempo of games.

John Curtin (Ballyduff) epitomised the pride and responsibility that comes with wearing the Kerry crest. Courageous and committed, he met every challenge head-on—whether it was diving for a loose ball, launching a last-ditch tackle, or powering into the heart of the opposition’s defence. His fearless play inspired teammates and supporters alike.

Ben Kelliher (Dr Crokes) earned a reputation as one of the championship’s most dangerous forwards. With his trademark left foot, he caused havoc for defenders throughout the season. Whether converting from distance or navigating tight spaces inside the 21, Ben’s sharp-shooting proved vital to Kerry’s attacking threat.

These six young men have not only proven themselves among the elite of Minor Football in Ireland but have also captured the hearts of the Kerry faithful. They’ve displayed the values that lie at the heart of the GAA: pride, passion, and community. Their achievements serve as a beacon of inspiration for future generations of footballers across the county.

As the curtain falls on the 2025 Minor Championship, Kerry can look ahead with optimism. With role models like Gearóid, Ronan, Danny, David, John, Ben and their valued and talented teammates leading the way, the future of football in the Kingdom looks brighter than ever.
