Kerry GAA is delighted with the announcement that we have been awarded €6 million from the Large Scale Sport Infrastructure Fund (LSSIF) for the redevelopment of Fitzgerald Stadium. This funding marks an important milestone for our community and brings us one step closer to realising our vision for a state-of-the-art facility that will serve as a home for our players, supporters, and the people of Kerry.
We are incredibly grateful for the unwavering support from our local community, whose passion for Gaelic games and commitment to this project have been nothing short of inspiring. We also extend heartfelt thanks to our local councillors and government officials, especially TD Brendan Griffin and Tánaiste Micheál Martin in particular, whose efforts have been crucial in securing this investment. A special acknowledgment goes to Kerry County Council, CEO Martin O’ Donoghue, and his team of directors, who have backed this project from the very start.
We would also like to give special recognition to Minister Norma Foley, whose tireless work behind the scenes over the past several months has been pivotal in making this dream a reality. This significant funding announcement would not have been possible without her dedication and advocacy, and for that, we extend our sincere thanks to you Minister Foley.
The €6 million allocation will allow us to upgrade the existing terrace at the score board end of Fitzgerald Stadium. However, as we look ahead to our ambitious plans for a full redevelopment—which are projected to cost €77 million—we understand that there is still much work to be done. Kerry GAA remains committed to exploring all available avenues to secure the additional funding necessary to make our dream for Fitzgerald Stadium a reality.
