Credit Union Senior Football League Division 2 Promotion Playoff – Replay
John Mitchel's 1-11 Spa 0-13

John Mitchel's clinched promotion to Division 1 of the SFL at the second attempt at Brosna today following a narrow one point victory over Spa after another exciting game that went right down to the wire once again.

Spa had first use of the wind and were three points to the good early in the game. Mitchels came back to level but four points on the trot from Mike O’Donoghue and another from Evan Cronin, saw Spa lead by double scores at the break , 10 points to 5, with wing back Stephen O’Mahony getting two for the Tralee side.

James Duggan narrowed th deficit on the resumption but the Cian Sheridan got in for the crucial score of the game, a goal in the 36th minute. It was tit for tat for the rest of the game and the sides were level at the three quarter stage, 1-8 to 0-11. Niall Sheehy and Mike O’Donoghue swapped scores and then James Duggan and O’Donoghue did likewise with time running out before Duggan had a last gasp winner to secure a path to Division 1 for Mitchels.
John Mitchels are back in Div1 for the first time since 2003 and the Tralee side’s first engagement back in Division 1 is on March 20th when the entertain All Ireland Junior Finalists Templenoe.

Spa and John Mitchels will have to meet again
John Mitchels and Spa played out an extra time thriller at Brosna on Sunday last in the Senior Football League Promotion playoff that ended all square on a scoreline of 1-15 each.

The sides will have to meet again on Sunday next at 1:30 at a venue to be decided to decide who will accompany champions Templenoe and Kenmare to Division 1 football in the coming season.
