County Novice Football Shield Semi Final 2015

Moyvane 1-13 Fossa 0-15 A.E.T.

Moyvane advanced to the Final of the Novice Shield after a tight encounter with Fossa played in John Mitchels on Saturday last. The teams were inseparable in normal time and it looked like the game could go to a replay but Moyvane took the lead in the final minutes of extra time to clinch a 1 point victory.

Fossa had the edge in the first half and had the score 6 points to 2 on the 25th minute with their scores coming from Paudie Clifford and Lorcan Daly. Moyvane's points came from Niall Sheehan and Eamon O' Flaherty. Two late frees pointed by Aidan Keane left the half time score Moyvane 0-4, Fossa 0-6.

The North Kerry Team had the better start in the second half. Colin Enright was causing problems for the Fossa defence which resulted in pointed frees from Timmy Noonan and Aidan Keane. Both sides were up for the challenge from here on. Taghg O'Shea and Donald O'Sullivan helped Fossa go two in front but a Cathal O'Connor goal in the 20th minute once again gave the lead to the Moyvane men.
The full time whistle came with the teams level, Moyvane 1-8, Fossa 0-11.

Extra Time saw great football played from both sides. Mathew Rennie pointed for Fossa but two long range frees from Moyvane's Martin Stack again put them in the driving seat. Donal Leahy and William Madden pointed for Moyvane. Both sides had goal chances and some great saves by Moyvane's goal Keeper Brendan Galvin saw them run out eventual winners on a final score of Moyvane 1-13, Fossa 0-15.

Moyvane now await the winners of the other semi final between Sneem-Derrynane and Beale.
