Listowel Emmets 1-10 Kenmare 1-15


Listowel Emmets and Kenmare played out an entertaining round ten clash of the county league in splendid conditions in Frank Sheehy Park on Saturday evening last with the men from the Blackwater gaining a valuable two points with a five point victory.


It was the visitors who opened the scoring in the second minute with a well taken point from Sean O'Shea followed, on the fourth minute a well taken score from 40 yards out from Kevin O'Sullivan. From the kick out Emmets moved forward with Conor Cox pointing to open their scoring. The home side attacked again from the kick out with Sweeney and Cox linking well for a well taken score. Both teams were on top defensively forcing the forwards into taking shots from far out the field.
Kenmare were on the attack and took three unanswered points from Patrick O'Shea, Sean O'Shea and David Hallisey. The home side dug deep for the final quarter with points from Cox, Kennelly and Tarrant leaving just a single point between the sides at the break 0-6 to 0-7.

The home side got the better start in the second half as Cox was fouled in the square. He converted the penalty himself to leave Listowel two points to the good. From the kick out Micheal Lynch took a fine fetch and linked with Kennelly who again found Cox who converted his shot to leave three between the sides. Kenmare began to switch their play as Emmets failed to push up on their kick outs allowing the away side to build from the back with the in-form Sean O'Shea exchanging points with Patrick O'Shea. From the kick out Emmets attacked but as their attack broke down Stephen O'Brien went on a blistering run,linked well with O'Shea, who struck low to the bottom of the net 1-10 to 1-7. The home side responded well with a fine long range effort from Conor Cox. Regaining the kick out he converted again and with the clock ticking down it was Game On. Kenmare knuckled down and with the home side beginning to tire Sean O'Shea took three successive points from play to finish with a personal tally of 0-6. Final score Emmets 1-10 Kenmare 1-15.
