Garveys Supervalu Senior Hurling Championship- Round 2A (Winners Round)

Lixnaw 2 - 17 Causeway 0 - 16

Reigning champions, Lixnaw, have made it into the semi-final of the 2015 Garvey's SuperValu Kerry senior hurling championship after this hard earned seven points win over Causeway on Saturday. Played on a superb sod at Abbeydorney, this game provided great value for the large crowd. Indeed there was little between the sides until the final quarter.

Causeway had a slight edge in the first half and went into an 8 points to 5 lead by the 20th minute. Then, after James Flaherty was taken down by the Causeway goalkeeper (who was yellow carded), Mike Conway hit the resultant penalty to the net to level scores. It remained level to the end of the half, Causeway 0 - 10 Lixnaw 1 - 7.

Lixnaw went into the lead for the first time with a Mike Conway pointed free 2 minutes after the re-start, a lead they were never to lose. He followed up with an opportunist goal 3 minutes later to put Lixnaw ahead 2 - 8 to 10 points. Causeway rallied and got back to within 1 point by the 40th minute. With 10 minutes left there was still only the minimum between them, 2 - 10 to 15 points. However, when Paul McGrath put over his 5th point from a free in the 50th minute it was to prove Causeway's last score of the game. Lixnaw added 5 points without reply, 3 from Mike Conway (2 frees), 1 from his brother Shane and 1 from Colin Sheehy to seal the issue.
