Kilmoyley and Crotta play out thrilling draw AET

Kilmoyley 1-17 Crotta O'Neills 1-17 AET

After a thrilling extra time encounter in the opener at Causeway a draw was a fair result as neither underdogs Crotta nor Kilmoyley deserved to lose.

With Shane Nolan in fine form, Crotta had the better start taking the game to their opponents and going three points clear by the seventh minute. They extended that lead to 5 points to 1 by the 14th minute with points from the Twomeys, Phil and Jack with Sean Maunsell getting Kilmoyley on the board. The sides continued to swap points and it was 7 to 4 in favour of Crotta when Shane Nolan took a quick 21 yards free and stuck it past a helpless Aiden McCabe in the Kilmoyley goal to exten the at lead to 6 points. Sean Maunsell replied but Crotta ended the half on top with three points from Shane Nolan, one from play, onne from a 65 after a great save by Aiden McCabe and another from a free to leave the half time score 1-10 to 0-5 in favour of Crotta.

It was all Kilmoyley on the restart and they fired over three points without reply from Jordan Brick, Daniel Collins and Sean Maunsell before Adrian Royle goaled to cut the deficit to two points by the 39th minute. By the three quarter stage there was just a point in it and Kilmoyley were passing up chances of equalising until Nolan put Crotta two up by the 53rd minute. Daniel Collins Collins levelled it with a brace of points before Sean Munsell gave Kilmoyley the lead for the first time with three minutes on the clock. Shane Nolan, who else levelled it on the stroke of full time from a free with the score reading 1-13 apiece.

Shane Nolan and Tom Murnane, both frees, exchanged the only scores of the first period of extra time and on the restart, Shane Nolan had two fine scores from play but Daniel Collins levelled it up again with two pointed frees and the same player seemed to have given Kilmoyley victory when he pointed in the 8th minute of the half but Shane Nolan equalised again and then missed a long range free to snatch victory at the death.
