South Kerry 1-10 Dingle 1-15

Dingle travelled to Con Keating Park, Cahirciveen as champions to play South Kerry in Round 1 of the County Minor Football Championship. Conor Geaney got them off the mark with a pointed free after 2 minutes but Jamie O'Sullivan brought South Kerry level two minutes later. Dingle then hit a purple patch and scored 4 points in a 5 minute period through Ruadhan McCarthy, Luke McLarnon and 2 by Liam Brosnan but South Kerry responded in kind with three points from Jamie O'Sullivan, Diarmuid Keating and Darren Casey to leave Dingle leading by 5 points to 4 midway through the half. The rest of the half was evenly contested with Dingle shading the exchanges and scored three points through Liam Brosnan, and two by Tomás Sheehy to South Kerry's two by Jamie O'Sullivan and Barry O'Connell to leave the half time score 0 - 8 to 0 - 6 in favour of Dingle.

Dingle got two points early in the second half, Conor Geaney and Liam Brosnan being the scorers but Diarmuid Keating kicked 3 points including a 45 to leave the minimum between the sides with 10 minutes left to play. However Dingle upped their game and Conor Geaney kicked two points followed by a point each by Liam Brosnan and Tomás Sheehy to leave the score 0 - 14 to 0 - 9 with four minutes left in normal time and it appeared that the game was up for South Kerry. The South Kerry players thought otherwise and another Diarmuid Keating point which was followed by a peach of a goal by Mark Sugrue who had moved to full forward brought South Kerry back to within a single point with 2 minutes remaining so we now had a grandstand finish. Once again Dingle changed gear and man of the match, Gareth Hickey Brosnan broke through the South Kerry defence to fire a pile driver to the roof of the net. The last action of the game saw Conor Geaney score a point for Dingle to leave the full time score Dingle 1 - 15 South Kerry 1 - 10.
