New Kerry GAA Jersey Launched 2014-12-07 10:26:00

New Kerry GAA Jersey Launched

The new Kerry GAA Jersey was launched today in the HQ of Kerry GAA’s major sponsor Kerry Group in Tralee.

Mr Frank Hayes, Director of Corporate Affairs, Kerry Group spoke of their involvement with Kerry GAA “This is the continuation of a great partnership between Kerry Group and Kerry GAA, for all the inter-county football and hurling teams. Our arrangement and partnership goes all the way back to 1991,when the GAA officially recognized  corporate sponsorship and partnership with inter-county GAA teams. We actually had been involved prior to that, in promoting the development of Gaelic Games in the county, but in 1991, we were the first county to bring proposals to Croke Park, and to formally engage in the sponsorship of GAA teams. Our partnership has continued and it has been a wonderful success story for everybody.

There is huge pride within the Kerry organisation, and indeed amongst all our stakeholders, both at home and abroad, about this partnership. Apart from our Croke Park success, and on GAA Pitches throughout the country, we are now seeing the Kerry jersey appearing at different sporting events throughout the world, including the Masters in Golf, Cricket, Cycling, World Cup, and many more. There is huge pride in the jersey, so here today we are starting another three year association with the launch of this jersey. It’s a partnership that I believe is made to succeed, and I think this year in particular, we have got tremendous pleasure in winning the All-Ireland and in particular, winning both minor and senior titles as well as capturing titles in senior and minor Hurling. This is a tremendous testament to the resilience of Kerry GAA. It augurs well for the future because the work that has gone on at development level here over the past number of years is now coming through and we are now seeing the success of that”.

Mr Patrick O’Sullivan Chairman of Kerry GAA, expressed his delight at the launch of the new Kerry Jersey; “Though we had success with the last jersey in Croke Park, we had a lot of heartache as well in 2011 and in last year’s semi final, and indeed in this year’s Christy Ring Final but we are delighted to be involved with Kerry Group,Stan McCarthy and  Frank Hayes, and you could not find better sponsors, because they do not just hand over a cheque, they take a personal interest in all the games and teams and that means so much. We still have the gold band and the green and a gold collar, and there are some other minor changes. I am sure it will be a big seller for Christmas. We are very grateful to Kerry Group and Frank Hayes, because without their support, we could not achieve the success that we have achieved over the past twenty odd years. They never make any demands on us, and we launched the last jersey three years ago here in this building and we hope that we will enjoy further success over the next three years”.
