Kerry exit to Roscommon in hurling series 2014-08-23 21:23:00

Kerry made their exit from the Under 21 B All Ireland series when going down to Roscommon in the semi final in Ennis on Saturday evening.

Kerry got off to the worst possible start when conceding a goal to Roscommon inside the opening minute and the men from the west added another goal at the end of the first quarter. As the game wore on however, Kerry began to show an improvement and added points from Daniel Collins, Brendan O’Leary, Donie MacKessy, Paul McGrath and Keith Carmody and then they got the boost of a goal on the stroke of half time when Donie MacKessy bundled the ball home to leave Kerry trailing by just 2 points at the break, 2-5 to 1-6.

Kerry continued that improvement through the third quarter and Daniel Collin’s point was followed by a goal from Kieran Kitzgerald after a shot by Keith Carmody came back to him. David Griffin, Daniel Collins and Donie MacKessy all pointed and Kerry looked good with 10 to play, however Roscommon then got in for their third goal and after David Griffin regained the lead for the Kingdom, Roscommon got their 4th goal and time ran out on the Kerry boys.
