Comments: tim ,what are u on about when u are saying that u would pick the narrie players before the stacks, right lets go through the young players in both teams ,the narries have g kissane as a goalkeeper ,i mean hes not in the same league as d hennebry. the narries best young back would be g walsh ,while the stacks have k leen who is far better than garreth ,who else do they have ,c sugrue ,not as good as the likes of p quinlan or b dennehy.with regard to the two midfielders ,i think that they are pretty much the same.who have the narries up front , theres d quill but stacks have d long ,who was on before him on the kerry minors ,j o connor ,is not in the same league as b sheehan, theres e mcgrath ,but compared to m collins hes rubbish, and as far as i know thats probably all of strand roads young players, while i still havnt mentioned ,m and tj hogan jp o neill, and i gould go on

Comments: Congrats to DR.Crokes,on their 3 victories over the mighty Kilcummin. First of all I would like to say well done. However could they not take their victory humbly like Kilcummin have done so often in the past. The ans. is NO. WHY?- Because its bigger than an All-Ireland to them. Finally best of luck to all of Kilcummin (especially the outstanding Ml McCarthy and Dodge) and best of luck in the O Donoghue Cup.

Comments: Tralee man, How can you say that Stacks were missing B Sheehan when he played the entire first half. As for D Sayers the lad left the club 2 years ago and will not be playing (To my knowledge anyway) in this years championship. I suppose you were also missing Mikey Sheey,Ger Power and John o'Keefee because they all retired 10 years ago. If I were given the choice of the young Stacks players or the young Strand Rd players, I would without hesitation pick the young Narree's . Afterall they are 2nd in Division one also having a very young side, while Stacks are struggling in Division 2. I'm not a Strand Rd fan, but I'm convinced they will win the championship in the next 3 years (I hope I'm wrong). Finally stop blaming the managers for Stacks poor showing, its not there fault Stacks don't have enough quality to compete in the championship.

Comments: Joe from Kilflynn is correct re his comments about the Kerry hurlers. People are blaming the structure of the league but that is only an excuse for the non availability of the county's best hurlers for training and games. The best teams in Munster would be hammered by Cork if their attidute and preparation was as Mickey Mouse as ours. A full strength Kerry team with everyone training would be competitive. 3 or 4 years ago we were beating Derry and Dublin and now we are been hammered by them. The Minors prrpared well and really rattled Clare. The under 21's have an exceptional team but are they training? Probably not? Kerry under 21 footballers Paul Galvin, Liam Boyle and Ronan Connor are exceptional hurlers as well and could make up for their football defeat with a hurling win. Add in players like Trevor McKenna, Mike Lucid , Aidan Cronin. Hopefully men like Eddie Murphy and Mike Hallaron will not throw in towel and become dissillusioned with talented players and clubs that will not row in between county teams.

Comments: i would agree that stacks were quite poor against castlegregory on sathurday ,but i dont think that the younger players are only average,i would of bet any money that if this team were managed by decent managers they would of beaten castle easily,i would also agree that the full back line was poor ,they are good in other positions such as in goals ,half backs and the full forward line ,.ohh a by the way tim ,stacks were not missing two they were missing b sheehan ,w kirby ,p laide ,d sayers ,in my book they are a huge loss to the team .but in fairness ,there is potential there ,if the club can get the right management to nurture it.

Comments: The Kerry hurling team are an absolute disgrace. They have only three weeks till they play Cork and with their relaxed attitude its frightening to think how much of a beating they will get. There are some smashing young hurlers in Kerry , such as Micheál Lucid (strangely absent from the Derry game along with Michael Slattery) Michael Conway and Aidan Boyle, but what hope is there for them in this environ

Comments: I watched Stacks play Castlegregory on Saturday night and unfortunately the Ref was shocking. Stacks may well blame him for the awful decision he made at the end giving castle a free in when it should have been a stacks free. But simply he was terrible for both teams. As for Stacks yes you have a young side but that does not mean that you are going to be a great team 3 or 4 years down the line. A lot of these youngsters are only very average footballers. You only have one U21 and last season only one minor made the starting 15. From what I saw on Saturday Castle were as young as the Stacks side. If stacks cannot beat a poor Castlegregory side then I really fear for them in the championship. I know they were missing 2 players but with a club their size they should have enough strenght the carry through without them. Whatever about promotion Stacks could easily go down to Division 3 this season. Finally Stacks must have the worst full back line in Kerry football. Castle's full forward line must have scored 1-9.

Comments: I would agree that the Stacks have an encouraging and potentially successful crop of players emerging onto the senior team. However, such players will only realise their undoubted full potential if trained and coached in a proper manner.Unfortunately this will not happen as the current selectorial team have shown themselves, during last year's campaign and already this year,to be totally incapable of nuturing such a talented bunch. As long as these guys are calling the shots from the sideline,we will just witness another group of unfulfilled potential who will eventually drift away.

For example Cahirsiveen lost twice to the Green this year in challenges matches and lost by a sizable margin as far as I know, are they in the wrong competition or is it just a competition of poor standard, does people agree with me or not. Well done lads anyway ye did South Kerry proud.

He also had some great performances with St. Brendans this year at wing back. The Kerry minor trainers should watch out for these two.

He obviously the best man-marker in Kerry if not in Ireland. He never seems to play poorely. The other 5 backs weren't so good. I can't understand why Stephan O' Sullivan wasn't on after a great display in the last game.

Tadgh Kelly is their best natural attacker, Donald Sullivan too, also Jason Cronin and Killian Lynch. Yet you failed to mention Micko O' Connell, a superb footballer. I he wasnt playing for KILL. Athletic Fossa would be in division 3. I do think that they will surpass Crokes in 5 yrs. time, and replace them in div. 1 as the most glamerous club in top flight football. What are your views?

Comments: Its fairly obvious that Kerry have to play Seamus Moynahin at full back. I think that our half back line is reasonable enough, and can afford to do without him. All is not lost for kerry, 1-18 is an impressive score on any day, and there is a good chance that we played in the game of the year. On a different note, congratulations to the Templenoe senior team on their first win of the year, which ended a run of about 9 months without a win, for once the future looks a tiny bit less bleak than normal, hopefully

I think Kerry Selectors should give Peter O Leary a chance.Kerry vs Cork will be cracking match Kerry will win they did well in league while Cork were very poor in league.

Comments: I'd just like to say hard luck to the Kerry lads who were unfortunately beaten by Meath on Sunday. It was a great performance by both teams and so,for the first time in ages...a great game of football. But Meath deserved to win..they faught and they faught until they were ahead and did well to stay there! From what I could see as the game was coming to a close Meath were getting stronger and stronger whereas Kerry were getting weaker and weaker!!Is there a problem with the fitness?? Also 4 goals??????? questions must be asked??Whats the story with the full back line ??In my opinion there was one back there who didn't deserve his place at all.And Declan O'Keefe should stay in goal where he's supposed to be and not drift out and let the meath lads come in for the kill.I felt that he was coming out a tad bit too much for my liking. Also i don't understand why the Kerry mentors introduce the likes of Liam Brosnan so late in the game when it is all too late to make any kind of impression on the game..he's a good player but maybe too light for the likes of the tough physical Meath lads. That's another thing we are missing...some tough physical players..they are all very light..but hey..the Kerry mentors were stupid enough to let the likes of Eamonn Breen and Liam Flatherty go..what hope have they got now..with the likes of Barry o'Shea out injured for the rest of the campaign!!The only half decent physical player we have left is Eamonn Fitzmaurice and Seamus Moynihan! However questions still MUST be asked!!!!!What are your views on the above??

Comments: Why won't the Kerry selectors give Kenneth Dillon, Tommy Griffin, Liam Murphy or Pa O Sullivan a proper game?No one will ever know if they could rise to the challenge or not. There are players on the Kerry team that have started and finished most if not all of the teams league matches to date and in my estimation have not proven themselves worthy to wear the Kerry jersey yet they are tried upon and tried upon and still haven't rose to the challenge. This is not acceptable and there should be calls for change in the future. These players deserve a proper game and I'm sure they could give a few players a run for their money! Also I'm unhappy at the fact that they won't let players settle in a certain position. How are they expected to settle in one position if they are been constantly moved around to suit other players needs!

Shows that Kerry hurlers can be competitive at top level when everyone is available and the team has prepared. Great credit due to Eddie Murphy team coach. About 10 of that Kerry team is underage again next year so keep at it lads.

Breen was not our worst player against Cork last year(certainly better than Tomas Se)but was still dropped from league panel. Amazing that Breen gets axed after years of quality service and some of our forwards get picked year after despite failing to deliver every year including 1997.. No need to mention names here but they have been around for 4 or 5 seasons now and Maurice Fitz may not be able to bail them out anymore.

Comments: The reason Stacks are mentioned so frequently here is quite simple . We are no 1, always have been (11 county championships). We are not as good as we have been at the moment, but with such a young side tiocfaidh ar la! Despite playing in division 2 we are still the team everyone wants to play. The name Austin Stacks is a household name throughout Ireland. We have the biggest following of any side in Kerry, and without doubt the best and most colourful supporters. Every non-stacks man might hate us but the truth is we are the most famous club in Ireland. "We were in heaven in '77" The street of champions.

No disrespect to Barry but it just goes to show how much coverage the clubs around Tralee and Killarney get from the papers while there is no coverage given to south kerry or to a lesser effect to north kerry

It is bad luck on a school to loose 3 All-Irelands in the 90's (1991,1997,2000).But these are tough lads and will be back again next year. Alot of today's team are also playing on Wednesday night- Kerry Minors against Clare in Tralee. Best of luck again lads!!!. I also agree that Eamon Breen is a big loss for the Kerry team. And if Kerry are to win next Sunday they need something big. Best of luck to the Finuge players on Sunday, Enda Galvin and Eamon Fitzmaurice.

Comments: On the issue of the county's goalkeeper predicament, it doesn't exist. Kerry have an embarrassment of riches in this position. Declan O'Keefe has still got to be the automatic first choice, but a man who has been very hard done by this year is Kieran Cremin. How John Evans saw it fit to leave this man off the U-21's is a mystery to me. His performances last year alone should have guaranteed his selection. Moss may not be the leanest of goalies, but it's hardly a job that requires the stamina of an olympian, and it seems this was a key factor in his demotion. Kevin Lynch and Paul McCarthy were others who were surely worth at the very least a panel place. It now looks like Evans has met his Waterloo as a county trainer but in fairness he should get a chance to redeem himself. The selection of the Kerry team that lost to Galway was interesting to say the least. As Kerry had already qualified why not go the whole hog and put out the panelists who have been training all winter. The treatment of Kenneth Dillon and Tommy Griffin has been particularly shabby. Fleeting appearances of five to ten minutes is hardly enough to mount a serious challenge for a championship place. With Seamus Moynihan and Eamon Fitzmaurice both out of action last week it was the perfect stage for Griffin, but once again he only got a few minutes.

Causeway is recognised as one of the top vocational hurling schools in Munster and has had success in Football as well. Players like Paul & Enda Galvin, Trevor McKenna and Liam Boyle excelled in hurling & football while attending the school. It would be great if a few more schools promoted both hurling and football equally.

It was a disgrace that he didn't receive an All-Star last year just because Kerry didn't reach the All-Ireland series. You could see on Sunday last against Galway that Kerry really missed him. The school has produced some excellent footballers- Paul Galvin, Enda Galvin, Trevor McKenna,Liam Boyle which are just a few. And also hurlers. Causeway doesn't get it's full justice and credit. What other school can say 'we have been to 3 All-Ireland finals in the last couple of years'. Kerry is not realised for it's hurling but in the last few weeks the Kerry Techs have been playing with the top teams in the country only to be beaten by Cork. 12 players of that team are from Causeway. And if any team deserves to win an All-Ireland it would have to be Causeway. BEST OF LUCK TO CAUSEWAY NEXT SUNDAY!!!!!

Comments: I don't know why people are tired about hearing about Austin Stacks. Not meaning to be brash but to have a team as successful as Stacks from your county should be a compliment to the county and to the standard of football in the county. People will now on cue say middle of division 2 but if we were to play any team in the county tomorrow morning no matter what team they were those players on the opposing team would be thinking about that match more than anything else in their lives. Don't deny it there is an aura to stacks which is undeniable. The present team is young, dynamic and a lot of the players are still learning their trade but mark my words watch the county championship thsi year and watch the team develop and improve over the next two years. With the team containing the caliber of player of Dara Long, Mikey Collins, Conor O Carroll, Billy Sheehan, Peter Quinlan, Keneth Leen, Michael Hogan and the resurgance of Cormac Kennedy and Pa Laide. My god almighty we are definatly on the right road back to the glory days.

Comments: We have no problem in Kerry with goalkeepers. Declan O'Keeffe is the best keeper in Ireland and P.Sé would be mad not to pick him. Declan has been an All-Star and also gone to Australia playing for Ireland. I dont think that he would have achieved this much if he was a bad keeper. Ok he gave Cork the first goal last year but you have to remember that the conditions were terrible and he wasnt the only keeper to mess up that day. How many outfield players dropped the ball that day - most of them I suspect, but they got away with criticism because it didnt cost them a goal. Thats the worst thing about being a keeper - one mistake and youre punished. As for the future Kerry keepers Donnocha Enright looked solid in the u21 championship, Maloney from Crokes (if he ever goes into goal again), Diarmuid Murphy from Dingle and Ger Cremin from Geneevguilla who should be on the East Kerry team now that Declan O'Keeffe will be playing with his club in the championship.
