THE CHAMPIONSHIP CAMPAIGN BEGINS...

Our Munster Senior and Junior Football Championship campaigns get under way on this Sunday at Fraher Field, Dungarvan when our teams play Waterford in the semi-final of Munster Senior Championship and Clare in the Munster Junior Football Championship semi-final. The day’s programme gets under way with the Bank Of Ireland Senior Football Championship game at 2.00 p.m. and the Junior game starts at 3.45 p.m.

It seems so long ago since our last competitive game at Senior level when we beat Dublin in the final round of the National League on Easter Sunday in early April. Since then the panel have been in intensive training in preparation for the Bank Of Ireland Championship campaign.

We wish all the players and the team management the very best of luck for this year’s championship campaign and the dearest wish of everybody who supports the Kerry team is that it will ultimately lead us to regaining our Munster title and winning the All-Ireland Final. But we must take every game as it comes and on Sunday next all of our attention and focus will be on winning a place in the Munster Final where either Cork or Tipperary await the winners on Sunday July 1st.

The Kerry Junior Football panel have been in training for some weeks now and Buddy O’Grady and his selectors, Donie O’Leary and Jim Foley have put a very strong panel in place. None of last year’s Munster and All-Ireland winning team is eligible this year because under the rules of the competition any player on the All-Ireland winning team is ineligible.

We urge the Kerry supporters to travel on Sunday next and give their full support to the Kerry Seniors, Juniors and to the boys and girls on the Kerry Primary Go Games Teams. The Primary Go Games between the Kerry and Waterford National School selections will be played at half time in the Senior game and we wish the young players the very best of luck on their big day out.

At half time in this year’s Munster Senior Championship games, with the help of the children from National Schools in the participating counties and Cumann Na mBunscol in the counties, there is an exhibition of a new initiative devised by The National Coaching & Games Development Committee under the guidance of Pat Daly, Head of Games in Croke Park, called The Primary Go Games.

“The Primary Game” remains as part of the Munster Council’s Senior Championship Match Day programme but it has been altered to the Go Games Format to reflect National Policy. The games are two 10 a-side games (one boys and one girls) with normal rules. Each county will have 22 children (11 boys and 11 girls). This includes two linesmen.

ADMISSION PRICES

No tickets will be issued in advance. Cash will be taken at the stiles for both Stand & Terrace. Seats in the stand will be on a first come first served basis, so people are advised to come early for the better seats.
