FINAL LEAGUE POINTS ESSENTIAL...

Kerry’s two remaining games in the Allianz National Football League are at home to Tyrone in Round 6 at 7.30 p.m. under floodlights on this Saturday March 31st at Austin Stack Park, Tralee and away to Dublin at Parnell Park in the last round on Easter Sunday April 8th. Kerry’s game against Dublin will be an All-Ticket game.

These two games are of vital importance to Kerry and we must play to our full potential to earn the league points in those games and stay in touch on the table. Donegal are assured a place in the semi-final but below them on the table Mayo after beating Cork on Saturday night last are in second place with Dublin, Kerry and Tyrone on six points each with Dublin having the better scoring difference.

The rivalry between the two counties, Kerry and Tyrone will be ignited once again on Saturday night and what better way to get the team into full focus and the Kerry supporters out in big numbers than with the prospect of playing against Tyrone. The team relies on good home crowd support and we ask our supporters to come to our last home game in big numbers to get behind the players.

Donegal are still the unbeaten table toppers of Division 1A after their victory against Kerry at Letterkenny in last Sunday’s Round 5.

Kerry, who were very impressive in the first half, suffered the loss through injury of Kieran Donaghy and it seemed a bridge too far after that as Donegal clawed their way back into the game. In the end Kerry were struggling to find scores as Donegal began to dominate and pulled away in the closing quarter. In spite of the defeat there were some very strong positives from a Kerry perspective to be taken from the game and we certainly did not deserve to lose by a five-point margin.

This was a huge achievement for these young footballers and their dedicated coaches. Mick O’Dwyer made a special trip from Wicklow to attend the occasion and make the presentations along with former county minor captain Patrick Curran. Micko congratulated all involved and gave some good advice to these young people, which will guide them in their sporting and personal lives in the years ahead.
