OUR KERRY TEAM NEED TO SEE AND HEAR YOU!...

The Kerry team has been selected, the tickets have been distributed and all is in readiness for Sunday’s Bank of Ireland Senior Football Final between Kerry and Cork at 3.30 p.m.

Many supporters will no doubt travel without a ticket in the hope that they will be lucky enough to procure one before the game. If not they will view the game on TV somewhere in the vicinity of Croke Park just to be as close as they can to the live game.

Let us spare a thought for those countless Kerry people who for some reason or other will not be able to travel to Dublin and would dearly love to there. Our thoughts are especially with those in hospital and the elderly. We know you are with us in spirit and that your good wishes go out to the team. We think of our Kerry exiles throughout the world. As you watch the live pictures from Croke Park in clubs and bars in all corners of the globe the players know you are there supporting them.

On an occasion such as the All-Ireland Football Final our pride in our Kerry tradition always comes to the forefront. Our senior team has done us proud in bringing us to Croke Park to challenge for our 35th All-Ireland senior title.

On Sunday the stakes couldn’t be any higher for our team. The All-Ireland title is the prize. We wish the players, the manager, Pat O’Shea and the selectors the very best of luck. They have the ability and the confidence to win and we support them all the way.

We hope to see a massive display of Green and Gold in every part of the county for the remainder of the week and on the way to Dublin over the weekend. The team will be travelling by train on Saturday and it would be great to see flags flying along the route as the train passes through.

Let’s also show the players that we appreciate their efforts with good wholehearted and loud support in Croke Park. Our Kerry team need to see and hear you to urge them on to victory. Give them that lift when needed and a cheer when they are going well.

COLOUR

With just days to go the All-Ireland Final let’s make a whole-hearted effort in every town, village, school, shop, garden and other vantage point to cover this great county of ours in Green and Gold, especially in the areas where our players live and work. Flags, banners and buntings should be seen everywhere in the county. So let’s do it for our team who have done so much for us already this year.

NEW YORK NEWS

The Kerry Juniors are in the final of the New York Championship against Astoria Gaels, a team captained by Timmy Lynch from Castlegregory. Kerry beat Roscommon 1-14 to 0-15 in a close and hard fought semi-final and the spectators got good value fro the $10 admission charge.

Roscommon led 0-6 to 0-5 but a great goal in the middle of the second half put Kerry on the road to victory. With local and drafted players and summer students Kerry have a very strong panel. Brendan Henchy, Mike Cronin and Eugie Sullivan are three very knowledgeable mentors and it is a very closely knit team.

Panel: G. Sullivan, Firies, J. Wrenn, Tarbert, P. Mulvihill, Ballydonoghue, S. Enright 0-1, Tarbert, E. O’Mahony, Laune Rangers, A. Glacken 0-1, Mayo, W. O’Donnell 0-1, Ballydonoghue, K. O’Shea 1-4, T. Quaid, Beale, J. Kelliher 0-2, Tarbert, M. McKenna 0-2, Strand Road, S. Langan 0-3, Tarbert, B. O’Neill, Tuosist, W. Quinlan, Dr. Crokes, W. Curtin, Austin Stacks, J. Brennan and T. Caffrey, Sligo.

Great credit to the players and the Kerry Club for flying the Green and Gold banner under difficult conditions, travel, hot weather and short evenings. Old stalwarts, T. Curtin, S. Healy, T. Keating, N. Shea, J. Mackessy, Tim Brassill, the Kearney family, Paddy O’Connor and of course John Riordan, never miss a training session or a game
