EXPECT A STRONG AND FORMIDABLE OPPOSITION... Kerry play Monaghan in the Bank Of Ireland Football Championship Quarterfinal at 2.00 p.m. on this Sunday afternoon at Croke Park. The game will be followed at 4.00 p.m. by the Guinness All-Ireland Hurling Championship Semi-final between Limerick and Waterford. After our Senior Football team defeated Cork in the Munster Final way back on Sunday July 1st the players and team management were well aware of the six-week gap to the All-Ireland quarterfinal. This is a long interval between championship matches but I’m sure that notwithstanding this interval the players are fully focused to the task in hand of reaching the All-Ireland Semi-final. There is no question either of underestimating the opposition. They have shown in the Ulster Championship and in the qualifiers that they are in Sunday’s quarterfinal on merit and are coming to Croke Park fully prepared and confident of success. Monaghan have an impressive championship campaign by any standards and they will undoubtedly pose a strong and formidable opposition to Kerry in Sunday’s quarterfinal. We are well aware of the massive following the Monaghan players get from their supporters and the Kerry supporters need to match that. Let’s see more flags, banners and bunting throughout the county this week, especially in the areas where our players live and work. On Sunday the players need to see the Green and Gold colours in profusion in the stands and on Hill 16. Get behind our team again this Sunday and it will have a positive effect on the players. They need to see and hear you to urge them on to victory. Give them that lift when needed and a cheer when they are going well. SUPPORTERS CLUB The Kerry GAA Supporters Club are organising a trip to Croke Park for our All-Ireland Quarterfinal against Monaghan on this Sunday. The departure times on Sunday morning are 6.00 a.m. from Farranfore, 6.15 a.m. from St. Brendan’s Church, Tralee and 6.45 a.m. from The Square, Listowel.
