MUNSTER CLUB FOOTBALL UPDATE...

It was joy and celebration for Annascaul and disappointment for Keel last Sunday in their Munster Club Championship games. In a cold, wet and windy day Annascaul ensured with a superb first half display against the wind at Fitzgerald Stadium that the Munster Intermediate Club Football Final trophy stayed in Kerry. In the second half they hit a late purple patch with six unanswered points to clinch the title from a gutsy Mallow team who like Annascaul in the first half played better against the wind. Tommy Farrell was a proud captain when he accepted the cup from Munster Council Vice Chairman, Sean Walsh to the ecstatic cheers of the strong band of Camp and Annascaul supporters present.

It was a disappointing day for County Junior Champions, Keel at Carrigadrohid. They went in at half time with a commanding lead but on the changeover their fortunes took a turn for the worse and in the end the Cork Champions, Canovee triumphed with three points to spare to qualify for a place in the Munster Junior Club Final against the Clare Champions, O’Callaghan’s Mills.

We wish Annascaul the very best of luck in the All-Ireland series in the New Year

In Division 4 Keel are promoted and the last round games involving Duagh and St. Pat’s will decide the second promotion place. Ballydonoghue, Cordal and Ballyduff have six points at the bottom of the table and Brosna are just one point above them on seven points.

Four key games in Division 4 will be played on this Sunday at 2.00 p.m. to decide the promotion and relegation issues.
