HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP UPDATE... Ballyduff, Abbeydorney and Lixnaw have joined Causeway for the semi-finals of the AIB County Senior Hurling Championship after their victories over Kilmoyley, St. Brendan's and Ballyheigue in last weekend's quarterfinals played at Austin Stack Park. On Friday evening Ballyduff shocked the reigning four-in-a-row County Champions, Kilmoyley, in a thriller that had the crowd on the edges of their seats throughout the game. On Saturday evening Abbeydorney defeated St. Brendan's. The quarterfinal between Ballyheigue and Lixnaw played on Sunday afternoon had a most exciting finish as Lixnaw held out for a narrow victory in those dramatic closing minutes. The draw for the semi-finals was made after Sunday's game, Causeway will play Lixnaw and Ballyduff will play Abbeydorney. The semi-finals will be played as a double bill at Austin Stack Park on Sunday September 18th and the final is on Sunday October 2nd. Kilmoyley created a number of wonderful milestones for hurling in Kerry, not alone equalling Causeway's record of four county senior titles in successive years but also winning the Munster Senior League in 2003 when they defeated none other than Na Piarsaigh of Cork in the final. They gave great albeit unsuccessful displays in the Munster Club Championship against Blackrock of Cork and Toomevara of Tipperary. On these occasions when they were beaten in those Munster Club Championship first round games they could be excused for saying that at least they were able to compete on level terms and be satisfied with an honourable defeat. They saw it differently however. Honourable defeats as far as Kilmoyley is concerned counted for nothing so they set their minds to the task of winning the Munster League Final in 2003 against their illustrious opponents Na Piarsaigh who had a number of Cork Senior intercounty players on their team. Under their trainer, John Meyler and their progressive officers led by Chairman, Sean Murnane, Kilmoyley raised the bar and set the standard for the AIB County Senior Hurling Championship. Kilmoyley represents what a progressive club can achieve when it focuses its attention on raising their standards to the level of not alone being able to compete on equal terms with clubs which have a tradition of playing at the highest level but being able to beat them as well. Kilmoyley have shown over the past five years that they have that ability and they are now among the elite hurling clubs in Munster. ALL-IRELAND UNDER 21 B HURLING FINAL The Kerry Under 21 Hurling team play Meath in the All-Ireland Under 21 B Hurling Final at Nenagh on Saturday September 10th at 5.00 p.m. We wish the players and team management the very best of luck in the final. COUNTY MINOR HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP On this Wednesday September 7th at 6.45 p.m. South Kerry play Ballyduff/Causeway at Fitzgerald Stadium and Ballyheigue/O'Dorney play Kilmoyley at Ballyheigue. The winners will meet St. Brendan's and Lixnaw/Crotta in the semi-finals. ALL-IRELAND FINAL TICKETS Stand Tickets for the All-Ireland Football Finals cost €60 and Terrace Tickets on Hill 16 will cost €30. There will be no Family Tickets and no public sale of tickets. Allocating All-Ireland Final Tickets in the participating counties is always going to be difficult. I mentioned in last week's column all the units in Kerry who are entitled to get allocations. It is also worth noting that last year our minors were also involved so as a result of their defeat in the semi-final our over all allocation of tickets will be substantially reduced for the All-Ireland Final this year. There is going to be a big demand for tickets and we know from past experience that some people will be disappointed but our supporters can be assured that the limited number of tickets that are allocated to us will be distributed in the fairest possible way. TICKET SCHEME Members of the Kerry County Board 2003-2008 Ticket Purchase Scheme are reminded that Wednesday September 14th is the closing date for receipt of their application for tickets under this scheme for the Bank Of Ireland All-Ireland Final at Croke Park on Sunday September 25th. Stand Tickets will cost €60. Due to the limited number of tickets allocated to Kerry
for the All-Ireland Finals it is only possible to allocate one ticket
per unit purchased in the Ticket Scheme. Tickets allocated to the scheme will be reallocated to the clubs and other units after the closing date. SHOW YOUR COLOURS Seeing all the Green and Gold colours around the county will give our team a great boost. They certainly appreciate the efforts people are already making. FUNDRAISING EVENTS Playing in the All-Ireland Final costs a lot of money and in order to raise funds there will be a number of fund-raising events organised prior to the All-Ireland Final and in Dublin during the All-Ireland weekend. CHURCH GATE COLLECTION DUBLIN GOLF CLASSIC The Kerry Association in Dublin are holding a Golf
Classic at City West on Wednesday September 21st. The proceeds of the

Tickets for Sunday night's Disco will also be on sale at Jury's Hotel on the Saturday night. TOYOTA CAR RAFFLE The Kerry Senior Football players will be presented with a Toyota Car as All-Ireland Finalists. Tickets for the car raffle are going on sale before the All-Ireland Final this year and all the proceeds are going to the Players Holiday Fund. Tickets are €10 each and they are available from Club Secretaries, County Committee Officers and The Kerry Supporters Club. Tickets can also be bought by sending your Name, Address & Phone Number together with Cheque or Postal Order to cover the cost of ticket(s) to: - Éamon O'Sullivan, Rúnaí, P.O. Box 125, The Pavilion, Austin Stack Park, Tralee, Co. Kerry. The players and team management have given the Kerry Supporters yet another magnificent year to remember and having qualified for the All-Ireland Final the Players Holiday Fund deserves to be supported especially by those of us who have got such enjoyment from their performances during the year. Thousands of Kerry people are prepared to spend a lot of money during the All-Ireland Final weekend in Dublin so we are asking those in particular to support the Players Holiday Fund by purchasing a €10 raffle ticket. It is a very small extra donation when compared with the other costs that people will incur. We are asking our supporters to show their appreciation for the players who made their All-Ireland Final weekend in Dublin possible. All proceeds are for the Players Holiday Fund. KERRY TEAM OPEN DAY The Kerry Senior Football Panel are giving their young
supporters an opportunity to meet them at an Open Day which will be

The winners will play Renard in the final. COUNTY LEAGUE In the Division 4 back games in the Credit Union County Senior Football League played last Saturday Moyvane defeated Cromane and Churchill defeated St. Senan's. These results mean that both St. Senans' and Cromanc are relegated and there is a right good battle in store to avoid the third relegation place and Laune Rangers B and Brosna are those in danger. This Saturday at 4.00 p.m. Na Gaeil play Cromane in a back game. Beale defeated Glenbeigh/Glencar in replay of the Credit Union County Junior Football League Division 5 Final at Na Gaeil Pitch last Saturday evening.
