The Kerry senior hurlers make a welcome return to action on this Sunday, 18 October when they play meet Antrim in the re-scheduled Allianz Hurling League, Division 2A Final. Venue is Bord na Móna O’Connor Park, Tullamore with a 1.30pm. throw in. Best of luck to captain, Bryan Murphy [Causeway] and his team together with the management team of Fintan O’Connor, Seán Maunsell [Kilmoyley], Brendan Cummins [Tipperary], Eamon Fitzgerald and Brian Culbert [Sixmilebridge].
Under current Level 3 Government regulations all this weekend’s matches will be played behind closed doors.
Kerry seniors will have a busy schedule over the next few weeks as on Sunday week, October 25 the Joe McDonagh Cup competition gets underway with a home game against Meath at Austin Stack Park, 1.00pm. Further rounds will be on Saturday, 31 October when they travel to meet Westmeath in Round 2 at 1.30pm in Cusack Park. Round 3 will be away to Antrim on Saturday, November 14 at Corrigan Park, Belfast while Round 4 will be at home to Carlow at Austin Stack Park on Saturday, 21 November. The Joe McDonagh Cup Final is scheduled for Sunday, 13 December as a curtain raiser to the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Final.
Under 20 inter county
Kerry has entered the Munster Under 20 Hurling Championship this year and face Cork on Monday evening next, 19 October at Austin Stack Park, 6.30p.m. The team management comprises of Fintan O’Connor, Mike Kelliher [Lixnaw], Dermot Ryan [Crotta O’Neill’s] and Seán Maunsell [Kilmoyley] & Eamon Fitzgerald].
The Kerry minor hurlers play Tipperary on this Sunday in Round 1 of the Munster Championship. Venue is the LIT Gaelic Grounds, Limerick where there will be a 1.00p.m. throw in. The minor backroom team is John Hennessy [Ballyduff], Ollie Broughton [Tralee Parnell’s], Tadhg Flynn [Causeway], Jerome O’Sullivan [Crotta O’Neill’s], Timmy Hourigan [Dr. Crokes] and John Fitzgerald [GDA].
