Senior inter county hurling action resumes on Wednesday, 18 December when Kerry open their Co-op Superstores Munster Senior Hurling League campaign with an away game against Cork on at Páirc Uí Rinn. Round 2 will be against Waterford in Tralee on Sunday, 5 January.
St. Pat’s East Kerry Hurling Club held their annual awards night on Friday last at Kilcummin G.A.A. The Senior Player of the Year went to Tomás Holohan, the Juvenile Player of the Year is Cian O'Rourke and the Club Person of the Year is Donal Casey. The 2nd Annual Hall of Fame Award was presented to Seán Kelly, former GAA President who was a founding member of the club. St. Pat’s are also in the upcoming Co. Junior Championship Final against Ballyheigue.
Good luck to the 3 Tralee Schools who are seeking to take 3 out of the four semi-final places in the Munster GAA Post Primary Schools E competition. This competition began in the 2017/2018 season and has been hugely beneficial for the ongoing development and progress of hurling in Tralee town and the surrounding areas where the players are drawn from. Tralee CBS won the title in 2018 while the 2017 winners were Mount Sion of Waterford. Both of these past winners are again involved in the 2019 later stages.
The next scheduled fixtures are:- Gaelcholáiste Chiarraí were to play Mount Sion C.B.S. on Monday last; Mercy Mounthawk v Waterpark College, Waterford on Friday, 29 Nov. and Coláiste Mhuire, Cobh v Tralee CBS on Wednesday, 4 Dec.
The North Kerry Hurling Board Annual Awards function will take place on this Friday, 29 November at Ballyroe Heights Hotel, commencing at 8.00p.m. The Annual Hall of Fame Award will be presented to long time GAA official, Mike Slattery of Lady’s Walk. Player of the Match Awards will be presented for all of the Juvenile Finals from 2019.
