Pride of place this week goes to the Kerry Under 20 hurlers who retained their All-Ireland ‘B’ championship at Páirc Tailteann in Navan on Saturday last by defeating Down in the final by 3 - 22 to 0 - 12 to win the Ritchie McElligott Cup (presented in 2015) for the third time. Team captain was Adam O’Sullivan while corner forward Dónal O’Sullivan won the Man of the Match Award. The management team was Fintan O’Connor, Brian Culbert, Eamon Fitzgerald, Dermot Ryan and Seán Maunsell.

St. Brendan’s became the second side through to the semi-finals of the Garvey’s SuperValu Kerry Co. Senior Hurling Championship following their 2 - 11 to 1 - 13 win over Crotta in last Monday’s replay. Round 3 will be played on this Saturday when there will be a double bill at Austin Stack Park. Causeway meet Ballyduff at 5.00p.m. followed by Crotta versus Kilmoyley at 7.00p.m. with extra time in both games if necessary. The semi-finals are fixed for the weekend of 17/18 August with the Final on Sunday, 25 August.
Dr. Crokes play Kenmare in the semi-final of the Co. Intermediate Hurling Championship [Corn Antóin Ó Murchú] on this Saturday at Kilgarvan. Throw in time 7.00p.m. with extra time if necessary.
In the fourth Round 1 tie of the Co. Minor Hurling Championship last Monday, Lixnaw had a 3 - 12 to 1 - 15 home win over Ballyheigue. The semi-finals are scheduled for this Monday, 12 August. Ballyduff play Causeway/Kilmoyley at Lixnaw while the Crotta O’Neill’s v Lixnaw tie goes ahead at Abbeydorney. Both throw in at 6.30p.m. with extra time if necessary.
Lee Strand Co. Under 16 Hurling Championship fixtures for Friday, 9 August, 7.00p.m. -Cup semi-final - St. Brendan's v Kenmare/Kilgarvan. Venue tbc. Plate quarter-final – Tralee Parnell's v Crotta at Caherslee.
The St. Pat’s East Kerry Hurling club will be hosting a Poc Fada competition on this Saturday, 11 August. Venue will be Killarney Racecourse where proceedings get underway at 10.00a.m Competitions at Under 12, Under 16 and senior levels. Details on the club Facebook page.
Hurling Cúl Camps
The final week of the 2019 Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camps for Hurling in Kerry will take place next week at Kilmoyley & Tralee Parnell’s (Caherslee) from Monday, 12th until Friday, 16th August. Children may register on the first morning of each Camp. The cost is €60 per child with reductions for additional members of families. Open to primary school children, boys and girls between 6 and 13 years of age. Monday’s to Friday’s, 10.00a.m. – 2.30p.m. daily. Further details at www.kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie
