The Super 8s begin on Sunday!
On Sunday, the much-anticipated fixture between Kerry and Mayo will throw in at 4pm in Fitzgerald Stadium. The system was changed from last year resulting in Provincial winners this year getting a ‘home venue’ for the first game whereas last year our first game against Galway was in Croke Park. It goes without saying that a win in this game would be hugely beneficial in our quest to get out of the group and into the semi-final! We need to make home advantage count and we are calling on all supporters to come to Killarney and show your support on Sunday! The players feed off the crowd and if ever we were needed to play our part it is on Sunday against a very fancied Mayo team. Mayo has impressed throughout the qualifiers and has shown the depth of their bench. They have beaten us twice this year already but there’s a big difference between Spring and Summer football and Peter Keane will have his Panel well prepared for the task ahead.
Croke Park released the tickets on Monday afternoon and sales are brisk since. The tickets are priced at 25 Euro for adult tickets and 5 Euro for juvenile tickets. Tickets are on sale in the Kerry GAA Store Killarney, tickets.ie, SuperValu stores and Centra stores. Tickets are general admission and those into the stadium first will have access to the seats in the Stand. Once the Stand is full, people will be directed to the Terrace. We ask all attending to co-operate with the Gardaí and Stewards with this matter.
The gates are expected to open at 2pm but this will be confirmed later in the week. Entertainment will be provided for those in early to ‘shorten the wait’! People are asked to park responsibly and to avail of the Free Car Parks being made available for the day. The Gardaí have advised us that illegally parked cars will be towed away. It is Killarney in July so traffic delays before and after the game are inevitable so please be patient and leave plenty of time for your journey.
The team will be announced at 8pm on Friday night on the Kerry GAA website. We wish all involved with the Senior Team the best of luck. A win on Sunday would set us up nicely for the game against Donegal the following Sunday at 4pm in Croke Park.
On the topic of the Donegal game, The Kerry GAA Supporters Club will take coaches to Croke Park. All seats must be booked by Thursday night July 18th. For booking, contact Donal O’Leary, John King or Martin Leane. The Supporters Club wish to send a message of congratulations to Adrian Collins, County Board Delegate and Greta Maher who got married last Friday!
