Barrett Cup Final
Congrats to Spa who emerged victorious on a score of 2-10 to 1-07 over a gallant Mark Healy led Laune Rangers side in an exciting and competitive final played on Thursday evening last. The game was played under lights in the Centre of Excellence Currans just ahead of the arrival of storm Callum! This was a game of some quality throughout with the Spa boys getting off to the better start with early scores aided by the slight breeze and retired at half time with a four points lead. The Laune Rangers boys led by the ever talented Mike Frank Russell and John Sheehan began the second half with renewed energy and had levelled matters after ten minutes and were favoured to drive on. However the Spa boys competed well for next ten minutes in an ding dong contest until Spa scored the all important goal which drove them on until the final whistle. Credit to both set of players on serving up an entertaining game with a range of scores and skills for the sizeable attendance. The final was refereed by Tom O Sullivan of Clounmacon. Spa captain Hugh O Donoughue accepted the Barrett Cup from County Board Officer Christy Killeen to the delight of the Spa supporters present.
