Co. Intermediate Hurling Championship
Congratulations to Kilgarvan on winning the 2018 Co. Intermediate Hurling Championship. In the Final played at Lewis Road, Killarney on Saturday last they had a 1 - 19 to 1 - 13 win over Causeway. Outstanding full back Patrick O’Shea was the Kilgarvan captain and he was presented with Corn Antóin Ó Murchú after the game. Kilgarvan were ahead by 1 – 9 to 1 – 7 at half time with Dónal O’Sullivan was their goal scorer. Full forward Seán Godfrey scored 10 points for the winners. The Kilgarvan lineout was: Flor O’Donoghue, Ger Donovan, Patrick O’Shea, Liam Twomey, Shane O’Sullivan, John Mark Foley, Seán Casey, Gearóid Fennessy, Con Godfrey, Richard O’Sullivan, Keith Harrington, Connie Cremins, Dónal O’Sullivan, Seán Godfrey, Daniel Casey. Match referee was John Hennessy (Ballyduff).
Co. Senior Final
The highlight of the Kerry hurling year goes ahead this weekend with the Final of the 2018 Garvey’s SuperValu Co. Senior Hurling Championship (Corn Neilus Ó Floinn) between Lixnaw and Kilmoyley. It goes ahead at Austin Stack Park where there will be a 3.15p.m. throw in time.
A new trophy will be presented on Sunday. The Neilus Flynn trophy which was first presented in 1987 has had to be replaced and a new cup, designed by silversmith, Fintan Foley, will be presented to either Daniel Collins or Darragh Shanahan on Sunday evening.
The match programme will be produced by the North Kerry Hurling Board and the 56 page publication will be on sale inside the ground for just €3. The jubilee team being honoured at this year’s county hurling final is the Ballyduff 3 in a row winners 1993 – 1995.
Co. Minor Hurling Championship
The curtain raiser at 1.15p.m. on Sunday will be the Keane’s SuperValu Co. Minor hurling championship final (Corn Seán Loibhéad) between Abbeydorney and the winners of the Causeway/Ballyheigue and St. Brendan’s semi-final (due to be played on Tuesday evening). In last Saturday’s first semi-final, played at Kilmoyley, Abbeydorney had a 3 - 12 to 0 - 12 win over Tralee Parnell’s.
