?Reduce the Odds?- GAA Gambling Awareness Campaign
‘Reduce the Odds’- GAA Gambling Awareness Campaign
Over the coming year, Kerry GAA (Health & Wellbeing Committee) will be promoting the GAA’s ‘Reduce the Odds’ campaign. This aims to provide Gambling Awareness to members and clubs in order to protect their wellbeing and to protect the integrity of Gaelic Games. Posters will be circulated to clubs, A club Gambling Policy will be designed by the GAA’s Community & Health Department and will be made available to all interested clubs. A presentation on Gambling Awareness will also be made available. This campaign reinforces the ground-breaking decision by GAA Congress 2018 to prohibit the sponsorship by a betting firm of any GAA competition, team, playing gear, or facility. Specifically, the campaign aims to:
* inform all members of the Association’s rules relating to gambling
* highlight research identifying athletes as an at-risk group in relation to problem gambling
* signpost persons in need of help to support services available in Ireland
