Hurling notes by Tommy O’Connor
3 games went ahead in the 2018 Credit Union Co. senior hurling league Division 1 Round 3 last weekend. On Friday evening at Abbeydorney it ended all square, Abbeydorney 1 – 15 Ballyheigue 2 – 12. On Sunday at Kilmoyley, it ended St. Brendan’s 1 – 6 Kilmoyley 0 – 9 and on Monday evening at Dromakee, Crotta had an impressive 4 – 13 to 0 – 10 win over Lixnaw.
The Causeway v Ballyduff game will go ahead on this Wednesday, 4 April at 6:30pm in Ballyduff.
Round 4 is scheduled for the weekend of 14 April.
Todd Nolan Hurling Tournament
The 2018 Todd Nolan inter county under 17 hurling tournament went ahead very successfully last Saturday at Dromakee and Abbeydorney. In the semi-finals, Waterford defeated Kerry by 4 – 15 to 2 – 13 while Cork beat Limerick by 1 – 20 to 2 – 11. In the Cup Final, Cork overcame Waterford by 2 – 12 to 2 – 9 and after the game Shane Nolan presented the Cup to the Cork captain Brian O’Sullivan while Cian McCarthy received the Player of the Match Award from Richard Nolan. Kerry lost the Shield final to Limerick by 4 – 16 to 4 – 8. Overall the tournament was an outstanding success, excellently hosted by both the Crotta and Abbeydorney clubs.

The Lee Strand Under 12 hurling leagues commence this week with 3 Divisions and 18 teams taking part. Kenmare/Kilgarvan and Tralee Parnell’s have entered teams in all 3 Divisions. In the opening game on Monday evening at Ballyheigue had a 4 - 8 to 2 - 2 win over Causeway.
Round 1 fixtures for this Friday at 7.00p.m. are as follows:
Division 1 – Ballyduff v Tralee Parnell’s; St. Brendan’s v Lixnaw; Kenmare/Kilgarvan v Crotta.
Division 2 - Kilmoyley v Abbeydorney (now on Thursday, 7.00p.m.); Ballyheigue v Causeway; Tralee Parnell’s B v Kenmare/Kilgarvan B.

The Lee Strand Under 14 hurling leagues will commence on Saturday week, 14 April with games at 5.00p.m.
Division 1 will include Ballyheigue, Lixnaw, Kenmare/Kilgarvan. Abbeydorney, Crotta and Ballyduff.
Division 2 – Causeway, South Kerry, Kilmoyley, Tralee Parnell’s and St. Brendan’s.
Liam Goggin (Causeway) will be the Under 14 hurling co-ordinator.
The North Kerry Intermediate Hurling League commences on this Friday evening, 6 April, 6.45p.m. with the following games scheduled.
Group 1 - Lixnaw v Abbeydorney, Lady's Walk v Crotta; Kilmoyley bye.
Group 2 - Ballyheigue v Austin Stacks; Causeway v St. Brendan's. First named teams at home.

Féile na nGael
Dates for the Kerry Under 14 Féile na nGael competition are Saturday, 28 April and Saturday, 5 May with the Finals on Monday, 7 May (Bank Holiday). It will be divided into 3 Groups:
The A Group will comprise of Abbeydorney, Ballyduff, Ballyheigue, Crotta, Lixnaw and Kenmare/Kilgarvan.
The B Group will involve the 4 teams from the A Group above who do not reach the Final.
The C Group will include Causeway, Kilmoyley, St. Brendan’s, Tralee Parnell’s and South Kerry.
The winning team from each Group will be invited to participate in the national Féile naGael competitions to be hosted by Connacht on the weekend of 8 – 10 June.
