Crotta take home Rose U13 Hurling Cup 2012
Since the Rose Hurling Cup began 4 years ago it has become afantastic success. On Saturday and Sunday 18th and 19th August the Rose U13 Hurling Cup took place in Austin Stack Park, Tralee. On Saturday Crotta, Causeway, Patrickswell of Limerick, South Kerry, Tulla from Clare and Whitechurch of Cork battled it out to become Rose Cup Champions 2012.
After the competitive group games it was down to the semi finals with Causeway playing Patrickswell and Crotta taking on Tulla. After 2 great semi-finals Crotta and last year’s winners Patrickswell emerged to contest the Cup final with Causeway and Tulla playing in the Shield Final. In the Plate Final South Kerry defeated Whitechurch. In the Shield Tulla defeated Causeway 1-6 to 1-3 and in the Rose Cup Final Crotta came out on top on the scoreline of 1-6 to 0-4.
Crotta captain John Quilter was delighted to collect the cup on behalf of his team. Each team were presented with specially designed hurleys from sponsors Handcraft Hurleys. The South Australian Rose Katrina Dobson, Paul Galvin and sponsors Handcraft Hurleys were on hand to make the presentations.
On Sunday Tralee Parnells hosted their own version of theRose Cup. They had 2 teams, with local clubs Kilmoyley, Lixnaw, Abbeydorney and Limerick’s St. Pats also taking part. After all the group games and semifinals, both Tralee teams contested the Plate Final. Abbeydorney defeated Kilmoyley in the Shield Final 4-3 to 1-4 with Lixnaw beating St. Pat’s in the Cup final on the scoreline of 2-2 to 0-6. It was a great weekend and all clubs got great benefit of the highly competitive games.
