Goals win matches they say but it took extra time for St Senans to get the better of Gneeveguilla in this relegation playoff at Castleisland on Saturday. Gneeveguilla got the better start but two goals from david Foran saw Senans lead by 2-6 to 0-7 at the break. Gneeveguilla restarted with three points on the trot but the Sliabh Luáchra side still trailed by 4 with 11 minutes to go before they hit four points on the trot with Fergus McAuliffe getting the leveller.
On to extra time where goals from Sean Weir and Paudie Quille had Senans in the driving seat before Conor Herlihy replied with a goal for Gneeveguill to leave the score 4-9 to 1-16 at half time in extra time. The sides shared 4 points in the second period and so Gneeveguilla drop to Division 4 along with Fossa and St Michaels-Foilmore.

Ballymac 1-09
Na Gaeil 3-17
Ballymac were host to Na Gaeil on Sunday 24th of September in the Final of the Senior County League. The weather was promising with warm sun shine and with a fantastic attendance in the stand and grounds it made for the perfect Sunday League Final day.
Na Gaeil opened the scoring in this match in seconds with a point from Seamie O’Neill followed quickly when a free was awarded to the away side and Darragh Carmody put the ball over the bar in a composed style. Ballymac responded with Captain Paudi Mac giving the home side their mark in the game by powering through the Na Gaeil defence and scoring the first point for his team. But the visitors forward line won the ball minutes later by punishing Ballymac with another point from Darragh Carmondy.
Ballymac's Thomas O’Connor was not be brought down at that point of the game and with absolute determination found his way past the Na Gaeil keeper to land the ball at the back of net, a goal well celebrated and well deserved.
Na Gaeil however fought back and proved that they earned their place in division 2 next season with talented players like Jack Barry scoring his first point of the match and this followed again with their number 14 Jamie Lawham scoring 2 points and their first goal keeping their team ahead in the first half.
Balymac fought to obtain a lead and keeper Paudi Laide protected his team by pulling off what can only be described as an outstanding save and stopped the away team from extending their lead once more. The half score was Ballymac 1-04 to Na Gaeil's 1-09.
The second half was always going to be a tense affair with both teams coming in with everything to play for . But it was Na Gaeil that began the battle with Jack Barry and Seamie O’Neill scoring 2 points in succession and Ballymac's Eoin O’Malley tried hard to close in the score by making a great attempt at a goal but the Na Gaeil keeper was in the right place to stop him from netting the ball.
Ballymac's Aiden Breen did manage to bring his team closer to Na Gaeil's score by not once but twice putting the ball over the bar. But it wasn’t enough for the home side as Na Gaeil found a new energy and by making some changes in the team pulled two futher goals out of the bag one by Jack Barry and the second from Diarmuid Herlihy which left the home side behind but not defeated in spirit as they fought hard to obtain the win.
The Na Gaeil side pushed forward and scored a further 6 points to secure their lead, two points from Ballymac's Eanna Reidy wasn’t enough in the end to maintain a lead.
With both teams putting on what can only be described as a skillful and eye warming game it was the visitors that were the successful team and we congratulate them in their victory.

Ballydonoghue 1-15. St.Michaels/Foilmore 3-08.
St Michaels/Foilmore, who were already relegated, made Ballydonoghue work right down to final whistle to retain their Division 3 status for next year. A point apiece by Martin O’Mahony and Jim Cremin got Ballydonoghue off to a good star,t but eight minutes into the game, St. Michaels/Foilmore’s Luke Shea struck for their first goal. Both sides then exchanged points to make it 0-03 to 1-01 in favour of St Michaels. Ballydonoghue then had their best spell of the half, kicking three points without reply, with 23 minutes played. The Ballydonoghue keeper then gifted St. Michael/Foilmore a life line, when his short kick out went straight to the hands of Stephen O’Connor and he made no mistake for their second goal 20-1 to 0-05. St Michaels’ tails were up now and fullback Jason Foley had to be at his best to stifle a few more scoring chances. It was nip and tuck for the rest of the half with both sides tacking on three points apiece to leave it 0-09 to 2-04 at half time.
Early in the second half, St Michaels Foilmore’s Jason Shea opened their account, followed soon afterwards by a Mathew O’Sullivan point, which was separated by a Jack Foley point for Ballydonoghue. Ten minutes into the half, a pin-point pass from Jack Foley to Padraig Lyons ended up in the St Michael/Foilmore net to put Ballydonoghue a point ahead 1-10 to 2-6. This certainly gave Ballydonoghue a much needed boost, with Brian Ó Seanacháin winning vital position and setting up several attacks that resulted in five points on the board for the home side to St. Michaels two points. However, they weren’t finished yet with three minutes of normal time left and Ballydonoghue ahead by four points, Mathew O’Sullivan bore down on the Ballydonoghue goal and blasted to the corner of the net for their third, leaving only a point between the sides. With three minutes of injury time to be played, it was hectic stuff. Ballydonoghue backs were to the wall now, as St. Michaels pressed for at least the equaliser if not the winning score. It took some stalwart defending to keep them at bay with John Enright and Billy Foley to the fore. St. Michaels did have one last chance, but the ball flashed across the
front of the goal mouth and wide. Final score Ballydonoghue 1-08 St. Michaels/Foilmore 3-08.

Brosna 1-11 Ballymacelligott 0-24
Ballymacelligott secured promotion to Division 2 following a comprehensive win over Brosna last Saturday evening. This was a very impressive performance from Ballymacelligott and Brosna simply couldn't live with them at times. Ballymacelligott didn’t have it all their own way with Brosna dominating the opening half with great scores from Denis McAuliffe and Patrick Moriarty. However Ballymacelligott stayed in touch with good scores from Aidan Breen and Vinnie Horan. Flor McAuliffe then netted a brilliant goal to leave Brosna leading by 1-4 to 0-4 with 20 minutes played. Both teams exchanged scores to leave 2 between the sides at the half time whistle
Half time score Brosna 1-05 Ballymacelligott 0-06.
Ballymacelligott really came out a more dominant team in the second half and kicked 5 unanswered points with some great running at the Brosna defence. However Brosna fought hard and Patrick Moriarty added 2 further points followed by a great long range score from Eamon Prendville near the sideline to leave the scores 1:9 to 16 with 15 mins left on the clock. Brosna then suffered a major blow losing Tom McGoldrick to injury and Ballymacelligott were very determined to seal the victory and kicked 5 unanswered points 2 of which coming from Vinnie Horan to seal the game as a contest. Both teams did exchange scores in the final period but it was Ballymacelligott who secured a well deserved win on a scoreline of 1:11 to 0:24

Half time Score Na Gaeil 0-05 Dromid Pearses 0-09.
Na Gaeil needed a good start to the 2nd half and that’s exactly how things transpired. On their first attack the ball broke loose in the square and Na Gaeil midfielder Dan O’Connor picked it up and deftly hit it over the keeper’s head for an all important goal. This score gave Na Gaeil the shot in the arm they needed and they fired over the next two points through Mike Griffin and a Darragh Carmody free. Dromid’s midfielder Graham O’Sullivan scored a fine point but Na Gaeil’s Darragh Carmody responded with two of his own. Darragh Carmody and Graham O’Sullivan exchanged points again to leave Na Gaeil 2 ahead after 13 minutes of the 2nd half. But on the quarter hour mark Dromid were awarded a penalty for a leg block by a Na Gaeil defender in the large paralellogram. Dromid’s full forward stepped up and cooly dispatched the ball to the Na Gaeil net to put them a point up. But Na Gaeil never panicked and scored the next 4 points, two coming from Jamie Lowham and one each from Mike Griffin and Ian McCarthy to put Na Gaeil 3 up after 20 minutes. Dilan Donoghue and Na Gaeil’s Seamie O’Neill exchanged points. Darragh Carmody scored a wonderful free off his hand for Na Gaeil and Chris Farley and Jamie Lowham swopped points before referee Seamus Mulvihill blew the final whistle. Full time score: Na Gaeil 1-17; Dromid Pearses 1-13. It was a fabulous game of football played in a very sporting manner by both teams and thoroughly enjoyed by a very large crowd of Na Gaeil and Dromid supporters . Dromid had great displays from Denis Shine O’Sullivan and Padraig J. O’Sullivan in defence, Graham O’Sullivan at midfield and Chris Farley and Dilan Donoghue in attack. For Na Gaeil Kieran Dineen, David Culloty and Kieran Donovan were solid in defence, Eoin O’Neill and Dan O’Connor showed well at midfield and up front Darragh Carmody Mike Griffin and Jamie Lowham were a constant threat. But man of the match has to go to Na Gaeil’s full forward Jamie Lowham for his consistency over the 60 minutes and his contribution of 6 points from play.

From the off, Ballymac were determined to reign over the visitors and they proved their strength when, within the first minute of the game, Thomas O’Connor came face to face with the Gneeveguilla keeper Patrick Riordan and fisted the ball over the keeper’s shoulder and landed it in the net. Determination and team work took over the Ballymac side with the early confidence boost and before only three minutes had passed in the game, Eanna Reidy and Micheal Reidy followed Thomas’s example and scored a goal each, leaving the visitors trail behind by three goals. With this strong start, Ballymac would not show a weakness scoring another point skillfully, put over the bar by Aiden Breen. It was seven minutes before the much needed response came from the visitors, when Gneeveguilla’s D.J. O’Connor put a point on the scoreboard. As the break drew closer, Ballymac put on an outstanding hard working display ,resulting in Thomas O’Connor scoring his second goal of the game. Gneeveguilla never lost spirit and just before the half time whistle scored a much needed goal. Half time score: Ballymac 4-04 Gneeveguilla 1-05.
In the second half, Ballymac knew they needed to maintain their lead and the visitors knew they had to play a catch up game, which they tried so hard to fulfill. Gneeveguilla scored four successive points without reply from the home team in the first five minutes of the second half but Ballmac responded when Vinnie Horan scored Ballymac’s 5th goal of the game, leaving the visitors to trail behind further once again. Nineteen minutes had gone and Ballymac were awarded another point, when Aiden Breen again put the ball over the cross bar when he was awarded a free kick. Gneeveguilla were awarded a free minutes later, to see them score another point. It was the visitors to return the punishment, when their ever strong John Sheehan scored their second goal, bringing the score to Ballymac 5-06 to Gneeveguillas 2-11. Aiden Breen on the home side responded in seconds with another point, to secure his team’s chances of running to finish with victory, capped by another point from Paudi McCarthy.
Gneeveguilla tried hard to close down their opponents, but Ballymac proved to be too strong and once again came out on top in what was an exciting and competitive game - a match of great skill with some fine displays from both sides.

Meanwhile, the Fossa manager was returning to familiar territory as John Evans led his troops out on to the field where he saw so much success with his home club throughout the 1990s. Fossa started much better than their hosts and opened the scoring with a point from Domnhaill O’Sullivan (free) and Fintan Coffey – the latter with a good score from distance. However, Rangers got going and, after Connor Clarke had pointed well, the home side were first to hit the net as David Costelloe finishing excellently, following an excellent initial pass from John Tyther. Connor Clarke’s second point point was sandwiched between a brace from Domnhaill O’Sullivan (1 free) to leave Rangers leading by 1-2 to 0-4 with 15 minutes played. Rangers second goal came in the 18th minute, as a great run by David Costelloe saw the forward through on goal before he was hauled to the ground inside the square for a penalty. John Tyther made no mistake from the spot kick and placed the ball to the top corner. Fossa responded well though, and had a goal of their own five minutes later, as Tadgh O’Shea punched a high ball to the net from close range. Fossa added a further point in the latter stages, but points from Jack O’Connor, Connor Clarke and David Costelloe left a goal between the sides at the break. Half Time Score Laune Rangers 2-05 Fossa 1-05.
The sides were level in the 35th minute, as the first score of the second half was a Fossa goal – Tadgh O’Shea punching the ball to the net for the second time, after a pass across the small square. Connor Clarke pointed his fourth of the day as his shot from an almost impossible angle snuck over the crossbar, but Domnhaill O’Sullivan soon tied up the scores again. Points were traded between Rangers’ Eamonn Carey & Fossa’s Tadgh O’Shea (free) and with 15 minutes to play, the sides were level at 2-7 apiece. An excellent point from long range by Shane Daly for Rangers was soon cancelled out by Fossa captain Mark Dennehy, as both sides missed chances to take control of the game. Colm O’Shea pointed a free to edge Rangers ahead following a defensive mix-up at the Fossa rear guard and after a tense final few minutes, Mike Frank Russell kicked the insurance score with an excellent point from 40 yards out deep in injury time. Full Time Score:- Laune Rangers 2-10, Fossa 2-8.

Brosna 0-12 Dromid 2-07.
On Saturday evening last, Brosna suffered a narrow loss to Dromid, who still remain unbeaten in Division 3. The opening period of the game saw both teams battling hard for possession and found it very tough to get scores on the scoreboard. Brosna raced into the lead with the first two points of the game from Tom McGoldrick and Flor McAuliffe. Both teams were guilty for both, giving away possession and kicking a number of wides. Dromid registered their first score of the game through the boot of Dilan Donoghue. It wasn't until the last five minutes in the first half that both teams scored again, with Brosna taking the lead with a point from Adam Barry, but this was soon cancelled out by a free for Dromid’s Thomas Curran. Half time score: Brosna 0-03 Dromid 0-02.
The second half proved a much livelier affair with Dromid racing out of the blocks, with Thomas Curran scoring a great 45 followed by two quick goals. However, to Brosna’s credit they fought their way back into the game with Shane Curtin dominating the middle of field and scores from Tom McGoldrick and Gerald Nash. The last five minutes were very exciting with Brosna searching for an equaliser and Dromid doing their best to hold on to their lead. Dromid had numerous opportunities to finish off the game, but thanks to the woodwork and great bravery from Brosna’s goalkeeper, Steve McAuliffe, ensured it was still a one point game going into extra time. Brosna were unlucky not to snatch the draw , kicking two wides deep into added time, but overall it was Dromid who deserved the win, winning out on a score line of 2-7 to 12 points.

Ballydonoghue 0-10 Dromid Pearses 1-09.
Dromid Pearses having dominated the first half and going in at half time leading by seven points, with Thomas Curran, Chris and Kealan Farley proving a real handful for the Ballydonoghue backs, will consider themselves lucky in the end to come away with a two point win. The Dromid goal was a scrappy affair with Jason Foley and Thomas Curran tussling for possession, with the latter getting a toe to the loose ball and it ended up in the back of the net. While at the other end, Ballydonoghue missed a glorious goal chance with only the keeper to beat, the ball was blasted well wide of the post. Half time score -Ballydonoghue 0-03 Dromid Pearses 1-07.
The second half was a complete turnaround, after Ballydonoghue came out a transformed team out-scoring their opponents seven points to two. As well as missing three great goal chances, two coming off the post, the third a great save from goalkeeper Brian O’Leary from a Padraig Lyon’s shot at the end of a great Ballydonoghue move that had goal written all over it. Ballydonoghue threw everything at Dromid in the second half, with Martin O’Mahony and Eamon Walsh coming into their own at centrefield. Dromid Pearses were hanging on at the end for dear life and Ballydonoghue will feel they at least deserved a share of the spoils, but in truth they left themselves with too much to do after a poor first half performance.

Ballymac 0-12 Laune Rangers 3-09
Supporters came out in force to cheer on both teams for the the seventh round of the County league in what was sure to be a very competitive match. From the off, both teams made great attempts to put a mark on the score board, but it was Laune Rangers at the fifth minute who did just that, followed four minutes later with Connor Clarke doubling their starting score. Ballymac fought back, when on the 13th minute Aiden Breen gave Ballymac their first point in an outstanding exhibition, followed by Vinny Horan scoring to match the Laune Rangers points on the board. It was early days and all to play for, both teams giving everything to defend their sides , but the battle was hard fought in the closing minutes of the first half. Half time score: Ballymac 0-05 Laune Rangers 0-07.
The second half proved to be a completely different game. With such a narrow gap in scores to begin, it was anybody’s game. Laune Rangers immediately pushed forward, when Colm O’Shea put the ball over the net widening that gap , and they continued to push when Laune Rangers’ Shane Daly came up the wing expertly passing the ball to Connor Clarke, who took on the Ballymac Keeper. However, he saved the ball but on the rebound Laune Rangers scored their first goal. With confidence on the up, they got a second goal just two minutes later. Ballymac seemed to find their feet at this point of the match, when they teamed up and managed four points without response in just six minutes. They battled hard to bring the game to their side, but another Laune Rangers goal spoiled their hopes and seemed to seal the deal for the visitors. The last 15 minutes decided who were to be the victors and it was Laune Rangers who proved to be too strong for the home side and came out on top. Ballymac did bring great strength and absolute heartfelt determination to this game and we are sure that they will bring the magic back again.

Na Gaeil were finding their form now and the next three points went their way courtesy of Shamie O Neill and two from Darragh Carmody (I free) leaving the score 0-07 to 0-03 in Na Gaeil’s favour. At midfield, Na Gaeil through Eoin O Neill and Dan O Connor were dominating matters at this stage and the gap could have been a lot wider, only for some wayward passing. Bernard Kelly pointed a free in the 21st minute and immediately after a superb catch from Jamie Lowham, who was subsequently fouled, Darragh Carmody pointed the free to leave four between the sides. A further free from Carmody was cancelled out by a Bernard Kelly point and on half time, a fine effort from Diarmuid Herlihy was rewarded with a point to leave double scores at the break. Na Gaeil 0-10 St. Michaels 0-05.
The homeside were in full command of the second half and points from Darragh Carmody and Diarmuid Herlihy were followed by a superb goal from Jamie Lowham, after a great run and pass from Diarmuid Herlihy. This left a bridge too far for St Michaels Foimore to cross, with the scoreboard reading 1-12 to 0-05 in favour of Na Gaeil. Jamie scored the next point again from play and Na Gaeil began to call on their subs bench, bringing on Dara Devine, Cian Quirke, Dylan Seymour, Ger O Connor and Paul Nolan. The first point of the second half for St Michaels Foilmore didn't register until the 54th minute, when Luke O’Sullivan struck between the posts . Finuge 1-12 Ballymac 2-11
It was a beautiful sunny and hot afternoon in Finuge for round 6 of the County league where Finuge played host to Ballymac. The heat of the day showed to take its toll in the first half of this game for both sides, as it took six minutes for the first point of the match to be put on the score board from the Finuge number 13 and another six minutes for Ballymac’s Daragh O’Reagan to equalize with just a point each in the opening 12 minutes. The teams seemed to adjust to the conditions scoring two points each successively until, at the 24th minute, Ballymac’s Daragh O’Reagan landed the ball at the back of the net to, at last, widen the gap to Finuge 0-03 and Ballymac 1-03. Finuge did manage to get two crucial well played points before the break by Cian Counihan and scored another outstanding point to go into half time with a score Finuge 0-05 and Ballymac 1-04.
After the break Finuge made greats attempts to edge forward, but an unfortunate missed point and at the fifth minute gave the Ballymac side possession of the ball, which led to Michael Herlihy racing to the goal to score Ballyma’cs second goal of the match. Finuge responded brilliantly with another point, but Eanna Reidy pulled another point out of the hat from the 45 mark to widen the gap even more for Ballymac, and with two more successive points within one minute from Dan Shea and Vinny Horan, it looked like a good run to the finish. Finuge worked really hard to try to get the winning points, but the Ballymac defence denied them any chance of a win. The final score showed how hard a race this was for both sides and it was a well fought victory for Ballymac .

Ballydonoghue 2-14. St. Senans 1-13.
Only one point separated these two sides before the throw-in and a win here for either side would lift the winner clear of the bottom three of the league table. St Senans opened straight from the throw in with a Cathal Kennelly point. From the kickout, Ballydonoghue broke down-field, where full forward Padraig Lyons fielded a great ball before rifling to the Senans net. Senans followed with points from a Sean O’Connell free and Cathal Kennelly from play. Senans were looking that bit sharper at this early stage. Ten minutes into the half, with Senans leading by a point, Adrain O’Mahony was black carded for impeding a Ballydonoghue player’s run after he had laid off the ball. A Padraig Lyons free and a Jim Cremin point from play had Ballydonoghue a point in front at the end of the first quarter. Shortly afterward, David Foran was on the end of a move started by himself to finish to the bottom corner of the Ballydonoghue net. Ballydonoghue added five more points before the break, two from Padraig Lyons and one apiece from Padraig Enright, Paul Kennelly and Eamon Walsh; To St Senans three, two from Sean O’Connell and one from Cathal Kennelly. Half time score: Ballydonoghue 1-07. St. Senans 1-06.
Two minutes into the second half, the sides were level from a Sean O’Connell free. It was nip and tuck for most of the third quarter with the game swinging from end to end in the soaring heat, both sides moving the ball at pace and setting up some well worked scores.
As we approached the final quarter, Ballydonoghue looked to have gained the upper hand and led 1-12 t0 1-7, but Senans weren’t giving up just yet and kicked four points on the trot without reply. With only a point between the teams, with a little over five minutes remaining, Jim Cremin and Sean Weir then exchanged points. Then, with only minutes left in normal time, a ball sent in around the square looked to be covered by the Senans’ keeper, but it hopped off his chest into the hands of the awaiting Padraig Lyons and he finished to the net, to leave four points between the sides with time almost up. Both teams then kicked a point apiece in injury time, but it was Ballydonoghue’s day and a valuable two points in the bag. Final Score: Ballydonoghue 2-14. St.Senans 1-13.

The sides were level twice in the second half, before Annascaul took the lead. The home side maintained this lead as a result of a number of impressive scores and finished winners by three points. Annascaul remain undefeated at home in this year’s County League campaign.

Laune Rangers 2-9, Na Gaeil 1-14
Glorious Sunshine awaited the squads and supporters at JP O’Sullivan Park on Saturday evening, where Laune Rangers were defeated by visiting Tralee side Na Gaeil in the County SFL Division Three.
Na Gaeil opened the scoring in the first minute with a point from Kieran O’Donovan, but Laune Rangers were much better in the opening minutes as their first score gave them the lead with Jack O’Connor finishing a great run by kicking the ball to the bottom corner of the net for a goal. This was followed by long range points by Mike Frank Russell and John Sheehan to put Rangers ahead by 4. Diarmuid Herlihy and Mike Griffin pointed for the vistors before Jack O’Connor added a point to see Laune Rangers lead by 1-3 to 0-3 after fifteen minutes. The second quarter was relatively evenly balanced. Two Colm O’Shea frees were met by points from Mike Griffin (free) & Eoin Walsh to leave a goal between the sides at the break, although they may have gone in level as Na Gaeil’s Andrew Barry rattled the back stanchion but outside of the post in the 20th minute. Half Time Score:- Laune Rangers 1-5, Na Gaeil 0-5.
The third quarter was completely dominated by Na Gaeil. An early pointed free by Mike Griffin was cancelled out by Connor Clarke for Rangers before Diarmuid Herlihy followed up a point with goal for his side – the awarding of a sideline ball to Na Gaeil distracting everyone but the men that mattered as the corner forward got his fist to a high ball directing it to the net. Darragh Carmody (2 frees), Jamie Lowham and Jack Carmody all pointed to see Na Gaeil leading by 1-11 to 1-6 with a quarter to play.
Laune Rangers fought back again and scored their second goal as Connor Clarke smashed the ball to the net following a quick free that caught everybody off guard. A Colm O’Shea point for Rangers was followed by a wonder point by Mike Frank Russell to tie the game up with five minutes to play. A Colm O’Shea free put Rangers ahead but it was quickly matched by Darragh Carmody for Na Gaeil, and the visitors showed great nerve to score two points in injury time through Jack Carmody and Jamie Lowham to take both League points back over Tralee mountain. Full Time Score:- Laune Rangers 2-9, Na Gaeil 1-14.

Ballymac 2-13 Annascaul 2-10
On a fine evening, Ballymac played host to Annascaul in to round 5 of The Co. League. A miute’s silence was observed in memory of the President of Annascaul Gaa, Joe Kennedy, who passed away recently. The game had a promising start within the first minute for the Annascaul side when they were awarded a penalty, when a Ballymac player picked the ball straight off the gorund and Annascaul’s full forward James Crean made no mistake scoring from the spot. Annascaul moved the ball fast and were well on top for the opening minutes, but didn’t manage to score, kicking three wides in quick succession. Then in the third minute, James Crean found himself one on one with the Ballymac keeper Paudie Laide, who in the end pulled off a remarkable save to keep Ballymac in the game. Ballymac got their first score of the game through Cian Counihan, after a great turnover from Ballymac. The two teams traded two points each over the next ten minutes, until the 15th minute, when Aidan Breen scored a great goal following another phase of tough tackling form Ballymac, which resulted in a turnover and Aidan through on goal. The teams traded scores again for the rest of the half, with the pick of the bunch being from Vinny Horan who took on his man and ended up hand passing the ball over the bar. Half time score: Ballymac 1-07 Annascaul 1-05.
The start of the second half was quiet to start off, taking five minutes for the first score of the half from the ever reliable Liam Dunne, who attacked from the back and put the ball over the bar. Then Annauscaul showed great heart and battled back through a very quick goal from the kickout, where centre forward Jason Hickson showed good pace and ended up scoring a goal into the bottom right corner. Then Ballymac rallied on, scoring 1-01 through Vinny Horan who scored a well taken goal into the roof of the net. Great work by Genie Griffin and Kevin O’Shea led to the goal for Vinny. Once again, the two teams traded scores for 15 minutes where wing forward for Annascaul, James Scanlon, scored a beautiful point on his right foot from the right hand side. Then came the last ten minutes, which were very eventful for both teams. It started off in the 54th minute when Ballymac were reduced down to 14 men when one of their own got a second yellow . Minutes later, the home side suffered again when a black card was shown. Annauscal were then handed their own black card, reducing them to 14. Annauscaul were well on top for the last few minutes, but couldn’t find the net. The game ended with Ballymac getting a hard fought victory, which will truly stand to them for the rest of the league campaign.

A fantastic performance from the visitors saw then out class Brosna last Sat evening.
Playing with the aid of a strong breeze in the first half saw Laune Rangers take full advantage of it, kicking six consecutive points, of which two came from the boot of Mike Frank Russel,l to leave the visitors lead 0-6 to no score with ten minutes gone. Brosna however fought back with three great points from Gerald Nash (2) and a well taken free from Tom McGoldrick. However, this was as good as it got for the home side, as Laune Rangers converted another four unanswered points before the half time whistle. Half time score Brosna 0-10 Brosna 0-3.
Brosna started the second half brightly with two early points from the boots of Patrick Moriarty and Tom McGoldrick, which gave the home side some hope that a comeback was on the cards. This was short lived as the visitors’ experience shone through and took the game to Brosna with a goal and some great points from their full forward line. Even though the home side missed their key players, they did manage to kick some late points through Patrick Moriarty, but it wasn’t enough as Laune Rangers took the valuable points.

Fossa 1-11 Ballydonoghue 1-12.
Both sides were in dire need of points here to help pull themselves clear of the very congested bottom end of the league table. Both teams had a player apiece involved with Kerry panels. However, Ballydonoghue were boosted by the availability of Jason Foley for the game and he certainly had a major influence in their success, by the narrowest of margins. Ballydonghue started well and Eamon Walsh opened their account with a point inside the first minute. They continued to be the better side in the early period with points from Padraig Lyons, Jim Cremin and Paul Kennelly, without reply from their opponents. This was soon to change, when Fossa were awarded a penalty after ten minutes and Tadhg O’Shea stepped up to expertly slot to the Ballydonoghue net. Seconds later, the same player had the side’s level with a pointed free. Fintan Coffey then raced through from centre field to finish off a good move, to put Fossa ahead. Ballydonoghue weren’t behind for long and five minutes later, Padraig Lyons found the Fossa net with the cheekiest of goals from the tightest of angles. Both sides then kicked two points apiece to leave two points between the sides going in at the break. Half time Fossa 1-04, Ballydonoghue 1-06.
Fintan Coffey had a point for Fossa straight from the throw in, but Paul Kennelly cancelled this out soon afterwards. With twelve minutes of the second half gone, two points still separated the sides, 1-06 to 1-08 in Ballydonoghue’s favour. Midway through the half, Fossa had a great chance to go ahead, when a blistering shot from Colin Davidson that looked goal bound, was brilliantly saved and deflected over for a point by Ballydonoghue keeper Darren O’Connor. It was nip and tuck from there on in, with either side unable to pull away and only a point still separated the sides deep in injury time. In the dying seconds, Fossa were awarded a 35m free, but with their free taker Tadhg O’Shea red carded a few minutes earlier, the shot went right of the post and wide. Final score Fossa 1-11. Ballydonoghue 1-12.

Blustery conditions in Páirc an Phiarsaigh last Saturday evening were not an issue for the home side, as points came as readily as they did the previous week against St. Michael’s/ Foilmore, despite the change in the starting fifteen. The Pearses dominated in the first half with captain Cristóir Ó Faircheallaigh being their top scorer of the day, with points from frees and play in both halves. St Senans’ first point came in the fifteenth minute from a free and their second from a free in the twenty ninth minute. However, the north Kerry side were building momentum and eventually cut through Na Piarsaigh’s defence and found the back of the net in the closing minutes of the first half, bringing them within sight of the opposition for the first time. Half time score Dromid 0-08, St. Senans 1-02.
The second half commenced with Dilan Ó Donnchadha pointing within the first minute. However, Dromid’s defence was coming under increasing pressure throughout the second half and the awarding of two penalties in quick succession resulted in a goal and a point. This was followed by a goal from play, despite goalkeeper Brian Ó Laoire’s best efforts which put the visitors in the lead for the first time in the last quarter of the game. The Pearses team dug deep, led by a man of the match performance from Padraig J Ó Súilleabháin and they clawed their way back with the equaliser coming from a well taken free from Tománs Ó Curráin. The final score was Piarsaigh na Dromoda 0-16 to St. Senans 3-07.

Na Gaeil entertained Finuge in Killeen in Round 5 of the County League on Saturday afternoon last. Playing with the aid of a strong breeze, Na Gaeil was first off the mark with points from Mike Griffin and Eoin O’Neill. Finuge scored their first point on ten minutes from the boot of Mike Conway. Na Gaeil scored the next two points through Seamie O’Neill and a Mike Griffin free. Finuge’s Raymond Galvin fired over a point on the quarter hour mark to leave the score: Na Gaeil 0-04 Finuge 0-02. Na Gaeil took control of the game for the next ten minutes with good scores coming from Eoin O’Neill, Mike Griffin, Jack Carmody, Kieran Dineen and Andrew Barry. Finuge’s Maurice Corridan scored two points from frees in the 29th and 30th minute of the half to leave five between the sides going in at the break.
Half time score Na Gaeil 0-09 Finuge 0-04.
Finuge had the advantage of the strong breeze in the second half, but it was the impressive Andrew Barry for Na Gaeil that put over the first point after a great run through the centre. Finuge’s Darren O’Sullivan cancelled this out with a good score from play, followed by another good point from their full forward Mike Conway. Mike Griffin pulled one back for Na Gaeil and Maurice Corridan pointed a free for Finuge. On 22 minutes, Finuge’s Mike Conway won a poor Na Gaeil kick out and was straight through on goal, but his point-blank shot was brilliantly parried over the bar by Na Gaeil’s net minder, Tadhg O’Neill. Na Gaeil were three points up when impressive corner back Eoghain Sheehy made it four with a great point from the right wing. Finuge’s full back was on the end of a great move to fire one over and bring it back to a three point game with three minutes of normal time remaining. Then came the defining moment. Finuge’s Jason Wallace was pulled down in the small square and a penalty was awarded. Maurice Corridan struck low and hard to the bottom right hand corner, but it was brilliantly saved by Tadhg O’Neill in the Na Gaeil goal. A goal would have drawn the game and put Finuge in the driving seat, but the save spurred on the home team and they scored the last two points of the half through Andrew Barry and Seamie O’Neill to run out five point winners.
Andrew Barry was a colossus for Na Gaeil all through and was ably assisted by David Culloty and Eoghain Sheehy in defence. Dan O’ Connor and Eoin O’Neill were solid at midfield and up front, Mike Griffin, Jamie Lowham and Jack Carmody were impressive.
For Finuge: Jeremy McKenna and Maurice Corridan were solid in defence. Pat Corridan and John McCarthy played well at midfield, while up front, Jason Wallace and Mike Conway were a constant threat. However, man of the match has to go to Na Gaeil’s goalkeeper Tadhg O’Neill for making three point blank saves, including the penalty save to ensure that the two points went to the home side.

PIARSAIGH NA DROMODA 0.16 ST MICHAELS/FOILMORE 0.06
Dry conditions prevailed last Sunday for a 12 o’ clock kick-off in Páirc an Phiarsaigh and the home side were on top of their game from early on with stalwarts Tomás Ó Curráin and Aodháin Ó Conchubhair pointing in the opening minutes of the game. It was a fast-paced first half, with many runs coming from young Caoimhín Ó Síocháin, which gave the home side the upper hand. Ballyfilemore’s Alan Smith scored the first of only two points in the first half. They did however have an opportunity to stay in contention with a ball heading for the corner of the net, but bouncing off the crossfire and back out. The Pearse’s top scorer Niall Ó Sé hit a purple patch in the second quarter with four points in a row, including a converted 45. The half time score was Dromid’s 0.08 to St. Michael’s/Filemore 0.02.
The second half saw Dilan Ó Donchú come to the fore, with the first of his three points from play in the second half coming within one minute. Dominic Ó Súilleabháin had his counterpart Matthew O’ Sullivan well marshalled and when the latter was black carded for a foul on Tomás Ó Curráin, it afforded the full-back the opportunity to score the final point of the game. Corner back Shane Ó Concubhair also contributed to the scoreline. Bally had a further re-bound off the crossbar and a number of wides, that never allowed them to claw back Dromid’s lead. An unfortunate injury to Bally’s Damien Kelly did not help their cause. The final score was Piarsaigh na Dromoda 0.16 to Ballyfilemore’s 0.06.
Skellig Rangers Gerard Murphy refereed the game.

Ballydonoghue 1-11 Ballymac 1-18
Ballymacelligott had a comprehensive win over a Ballydonoghue team decimated by injuries and summer transfers. Ballymac never looked in any real danger in this fourth round Div 3 encounter. There was little between the sides in the early stages and the sides were level after 11 minutes, three points apiece. Ballymac then began to settle into their stride dominating the midfield area and led by double scores after 18 minutes, six points to three. Ballydonoghue then kicked two points in quick succession, one apiece, from their two best players on the day, Padraig Lyons and Jim Cremin. Ballydonoghue’s revival was short lived when Ballymac’s Adam Breen struck for their only goal and the score that would separate the sides at the break. Half time score Ballydonoghue 0-07 Ballymacelligott 1-07.
Ballymac kicked three points without reply early in the second half and with Cian Counihan in fine form at centrefield, their forwards were getting a plentiful supply of ball to work with. Vinnie Horgan in particularly made good use of everything that came his way. After 49 minutes, they led by six points and would have been much more, if not for some solid goalkeeping by Ballydonoghue’s Darren O’Connor and a fine display of free taking by full forward Padraig Lyons. Ballymac then seemed to take their foot of the pedal and, when Padraig Lyons struck for a Ballydonoghue goal, there were only two points between the sides with eight minutes remaining. If Ballydonoghue supporters thought a comeback was on the cards, they were sadly mistaken as Ballymac lifted their game again, kicking five points without reply in the final minutes to take the points.

Nothing could separate the sides on Saturday evening as Laune Rangers and Gneeveguilla finished level in their County Senior Football League tie in JP O’Sullivan Park, Killorglin. These clubs have gotten to know each other very well in recent memory, as they have clashed in Divisions One, Two and Three of the County League in the past few years. Laune Rangers had the benefit of the breeze in the first half, and scored with their first possession of the game as Connor Clarke pointed. Gneeveguilla held Rangers out for much of the opening half, and the sides were level at 0-3 each with 15 minutes played – Padraig Doyle, Jamie Brosnan and Padraig O’Sullivan (free) scoring for the visitors with Colm O’Shea (free) and Shane McSweeney pointing Rangers. Points from play were hard to come by in the second part of the half with both defences applying pressure. Padraig O’Sullivan and Colm O’Shea (2) traded frees before a late surge by Rangers saw Patrick Carey drive forward twice from wing back to score a brace of points to put Rangers ahead by three at the break. Half Time Score:- Laune Rangers 0-7, Gneeveguilla 0-4.
An early Padraig Doyle point for the visitors was cancelled out by a third for Patrick Carey. Gneeveguilla were much stronger in the third quarter though, and were level at 0-8 a piece by the 49th minute with points from Padraig O’Sullivan (free), Ciarán O’Connor and Michael Brosnan.Mike Frank Russell made up for an earlier missed free by slotting another to edge Rangers ahead, and Connor Clarke doubled the advantage for the hosts. Gneeveguilla kept their nerve though, and sustained pressure led to a couple of late frees. Padraig O’Sullivan made no mistake to notch his 4th and 5th points from placed ball level the game for his side and, as Rangers twice spurned chances to win the game, the final whistle was blown to see the game end level. Full Time Score:- Laune Rangers 0-10, Gneeveguilla 0-10.
Best for Rangers on the evening was Patrick Carey, who showed poise beyond his years to put in a big showing with three points from wing back.
For Gneeveguilla, Mike ‘Stones’ Murphy was at the centre of all good play for his side, while sub Ciarán O’Connor made a difference when he came on, and Padraig Doyle was dangerous on the ball. The result sees Gneeveguilla move off the floor of the table with an extra game played. Laune Rangers move on to 4 points from as many games and stay at mid-table. Round 5 of the League takes place next weekend with Laune Rangers making the trip to Brosna, while Gneeveguilla host St Michael’s/Foilmore in a game that have major implications to both sides’ Championship status by the end of the year.

Ballymac took on St.Senans tonight in Round 3 of the County league. The conditions were excellent in what was a lovely evening for a fine game of football, which both teams served up. This reflected in the high scoring with some superb scores from both sides.
St Senans started the better with some fine attacks and led very early on, until Ballymac were awarded a penalty, when Vinnie Horan was pulled down on the edge of the square. Aiden Breen missed the initial spot kick, but slipped the rebound under the advancing goalkeeper. Na Gaeil 2-09 Ballydonoghue 0-11
Na Gaeil entertained Ballydonoghue in Round 3 of the County League in Killeen on Saturday evening, in what were ideal conditions for football. Ballydonoghue played with the aid of the breeze in the first half. Na Gaeil’s Stefan Okunbor won the throw in and scored the first point after a great run forward. Darragh Sheehan followed up with two pointed frees for Ballydonoghue. In the sixth minute, Na Gaeil’s Dan O’Connor ran on to a good pass and drove the ball to the roof of the net for a great goal. Darragh Carmody scored the next three points, two from frees and one from play to put Na Gaeil five in front after 15 minutes. However, Ballydonoghue finished the half strongly and scored the next three points without reply to be two behind going in at the break. Half time score: Na Gaeil 1-04 Ballydonoghue 0-05.
Ballydonoghue started the second half brightly and scored two quick points through substitute Jack Foley and a Darragh Sheehy free to level matters. However, Na Gaeil’s response was instant. A Darragh Carmody free found second half substitute, Jamie Lowham, at the edge of the square. Jamie fielded brilliantly, turned his marker and hit a bullet to the net. Na Gaeil pushed on from here. Darragh Carmody put over two frees and wing back Eoin Walsh scored from play, to put them six ahead entering the final quarter. The game was then held up for ten minutes, when Ballydonoghue’s Conor Kennelly suffered a serious knee injury. When the game resumed, Ballydonoghue got the next two scores, a great point from Jack Foley and a pointed free from Darragh Sheehy. Ballydonoghue attacked again and could have goaled, but for a point blank save from Na Gaeil’s goalkeeper Timmy Culloty on 23 minutes. Jim Cremin scored another good point for Ballydonoghue to leave a goal between the sides. Darragh Carmody had another pointed free for Na Gaeil, followed by another point from Ballydonoghue’s Jim Cremin. The evergreen Paul Daly of Na Gaeil finished off the scoring with the last point of the half. Final score: Na Gaeil 2-09; Ballydonoghue 0-11.

Gneevguilla had the advantage of the breeze during the second half. Their goal which came half way through this half, scored by Corneilus Buckley, was the result of a penalty. Annascaul continued to dominate the scoreboard, with Jason Hickson scoring nine points in total, the majority from frees. Both sides introduced a number of substitutions, with Gneevguilla’s replacements making it onto the scoreboard. Overall, this was a fast-paced game with good passages of football from both sides, with a good win for the homeside.

PIARSAIGH NA DROMODA 2-13 LAUNE RANGERS 0-13
Given the great footballing weather, a big turnout of Dromid supporters was guaranteed for their first home game. The Pearses set out their stall from the off, with a point from Dilan Ó Donchadha who gave a man of the match performance. Two further points from Críostóir Ó Faircheallaigh was the result from good team play and distribution from Kerry under 21’s player Graham Ó Súilleabháin. Niall Ó Sé and Ó Faircheallaigh worked well together up front and they pulled off the first goal of the match, giving them a comfortable lead. The visitors kept their heads up and notched up well taken points throughout the first half, with David Costelloe proving to be a constant threat, despite good marshalling from young Shane Ó Conchubhair. There was an opportunity to stretch the lead for Dromid, when they were awarded a penalty, but goalkeeper Tony Lyons saved the day and the visitors still remained within sight of their opponents. The half time score was Dromids 1-08 to Laune Rangers 0-06.
With a relatively strong wind prevailing in the second half, together with stern words from both Managements at half time, it was all to play for. Rangers’ free taker, Colm O’ Shea, was first to score from a free and five more scores were clocked up from frees, with only one further point coming from play. Dromid used their subs to good effect and they kept the pressure on. The introduction of Mike Frank Russell and John Sheahan was not the answer to Laune Rangers’ prayers, as Dromid’s Niall O Se added to the scoreboard regularly thoughout the second half, to keep their six point margin intact when required. It was a well-balanced team performance by all of the twenty or so players who played today. The final score was Piarsaigh na Dromoda 2-13 to Laune Rangers 0-13. Eddie Barrett of Knocknagoshel was the referee and acquitted himself well during the sixty five minutes of play.

Fossa played Ballymac in the second round of the County league on Sunday. This proved to be a high scoring, open and entertaining game of football. Ballymac raced into an early two point lead, before Fossa struck for a goal from Tadgh O' Shea in the fifth minute; however Aidan Breen kept Ballymac in touch with a brace of frees. It was nip and tuck all the way through with the sides exchanging the lead on a few occasions and the half finished with Fossa on top. Half time score Fossa 1-08 Ballymac 0-09.
The visitors upped the ante in the second half and controlled proceedings for the most part, again both sides exchanged scores, but as the game entered its latter stages, Ballymac took control and kicked two late points to seal a very good victory, in what was a good game of football.

Laune Rangers 0-13 Finuge 0-13
Laune Rangers began life in Division Three of the County Senior Football League on Sunday, as they were held to a draw by Finuge – another of the sides relegated from the second tier of the League last year. Laune Rangers were without a number of players on the day, as interim Kerry captain Peter Crowley was unavailable for selection, midfielders Maurice Foley and Shane Daly were ruled out with injuries, and full back Johnny Carey was suspended following a red card in the final round of last year’s League.
The visitors got off to the better start and took the lead through a Ricky Heffernan free after two minutes. Rangers’ Shane McSweeney saw his shot at goal flash wide left of the post following a great run, before Finuge added to their lead with a Colin Sheehy point. Jack O’Connor got Rangers on the board with a ninth minute point, and nearly added a goal two minutes later, but his shot was closed down by Finuge goalkeeper Gary Hogan. Points were traded between Rangers’ Colm O’Shea and Finuge’s Ricky Heffernan (free) to leave Finuge leading by 0-3 to 0-2 after 15 minutes.
Finuge’s centre back Declan McCarthy made a great run up field to get through on goal, but Shane McSweeney dispossessed him at the vital moment to spill the ball, and McCarthy’s instinctive volley was saved excellently by Tony Lyons in the Rangers goal. Rangers’ Connor Clarke and Finuge’s Pat Corridan exchanged excellent points from distance, before frees were traded between Colm O’Shea and Ricky Heffernan. Finuge’s goalkeeper Gary Hogan scored a well taken 45 before it was again cancelled out by an O’Shea free. Jack O’Connor levelled the scores as regulation time in the half expired, and James Flaherty and Colm O’Shea (free) pointed for their respective sides in injury time to see the sides head for dressing rooms with the scores all square. Half Time score:- Laune Rangers 0-7 Finuge 0-7.
The beginning of the second half was marred by an unsavoury incident that saw red cards handed out to Laune Rangers’ Shane McSweeney and Finuge’s Ricky Heffernan, and when calm was eventually restored, the visitors got themselves in the lead with points from Maurice Corridan (free) and Michael Conway. David Costelloe pointed for Rangers, before Finuge full forward Conway saw his shot at goal flash over the bar, and with 15 minutes to play, Finuge led by 0-10 to 0-8.
A 48th minute excellent Pat Corridan point put Finuge ahead by three, before Rangers came close to drawing level as an excellent move up field by Kieran Crowley, experienced substitute John Sheehan & debuting substitute Patrick Carey found Shane Mangan in front of goal, but excellent work from Gary Hogan stopped Mangan from getting his shot away. Colm O’Shea held his nerve to point two difficult frees in the windy conditions to reduce the gap to the minimum with nine minutes to play. Connor Clarke levelled the game up with what was the score of the game in the 55th minute, as he shot from the left flank with the outside of his boot to split the posts for a wonderful point. Pat Corridan edged Finuge ahead again, before Colm O’Shea tied the scores up once more. Connor Clarke pointed with another super effort in the first minute of injury time to put Rangers ahead, but Maurice Corridan held his nerve to point a free with the final kick of the game to see the game finish in a stalemate. Full Time Score:- Laune Rangers 0-13, Finuge 0-13.
Both sides would have had hopes of winning this game, but a draw was the fair result in the end. Colm O’Shea and Maurice Corridan showed great nerve in scoring excellent frees for their respective sides, while both goalkeepers pulled off excellent saves to deny the umpires from raising the green flag. Pat Corridan also stood out for Finuge, while Connor Clarke’s three points were all of the highest standard.
Laune Rangers: Tony Lyons, Neil O’Brien, Kieran Crowley, Aidan Cox, Ronan Sayers, Michael O’Sullivan, John Tyther, Shane McSweeney, Padraig Murphy, Connor Clarke (0-3), Jack O’Connor (0-2), David Costelloe (0-1), Colin O’Dwyer, Shane Mangan, Colm O’Shea (0-7). Subs: Patrick Carey, John Sheehan.

Na Gaeil entertained Fossa in Round 1 of the Division 3 County League in Killeen on Sunday afternoon last. Fossa opted to play with the aid of a strong breeze in the opening half, but it was Na Gaeil who got off to the better start, scoring the first two points through Seán Herlihy and Mike Griffin. However, Fossa quickly found their rhythm with Tadhg O’Shea scoring two and the newly wed Fintan Coffey scoring one. Then Donal O’ Sullivan had the ball in the net for Fossa to leave the score Fossa : 1-03; Na Gaeil: 0-02 after twelve minutes. Donal O’Sullivan and Mike Griffin exchanged points, before Fintan Coffey put over two more for Fossa. Half time score Fossa 1-07 Na Gaeil 0-05.
Na Gaeil now had the breeze at their backs for the second half and scored early from the boot of Ian McCarthy. Fossa replied with a good point on 13 minutes from their midfielder Matt Rennie. On 18 minutes, Na Gaeil got a crucial score, when midfielder Stefan Okunbor cut through Fossa’s defence to score a great goal and this reduced the deficit to two points. Diarmuid Herlihy put one over for Na Gaeil, to leave the minimum between the sides. However, the Fossa players composed themselves with Mike O’Shea and Darragh Rice scoring two nice points to put them three in front with six minutes left, but Na Gaeil never gave up. Ian McCarthy floated a ball into the square, which was fielded by Dan O’Connor. As he turned to shoot he was upended in the square. Ian McCarthy coolly dispatched the resultant penalty to tie the game on 28 minutes. Both sides had chances to win the game, but failed to do so. Final score Fossa: 1-10; Na Gaeil: 2-07; a draw.

Brosna claimed a dramatic win in the first round of the county league on Sunday with a one point victory over St Senans in Brosna. This clash of two north Kerry rivals was a great game of football. St Senans got off to the perfect start with four early points in the opening ten minutes; however Brosna stayed in touch with three points from the boot of Adam Barry and one from Tom McGoldrick. Both teams would have been disappointed with some of their missed chances, with St Senans kicking a number of wides and Brosna missing three clear goal chances in the first half. Two long range scores from Jason Browne and Paudie Quille ensured Senans went in leading by two at the break. Half time score: Brosna 0-04 St. Senans 0-06.
Brosna had a great start to the second half scoring three unanswered points, two from Tom McGoldrick and one from Kieran O’Donnell. However, a great run from David Foran through the Brosna defence resulted in a very neat finish to the back of the net. St Senans pushed on from here and looked well in control of the game leading by five points with 28 minutes played on the clock. A Timmy Finnegan point brought the game back to a four point game, and then sub Patrick Moriarty, who was making his senior debut, turned the game on its head with a long range point, followed by a great goal. Both teams fought hard for a winner, but it was Brosna’s Adam Barry who kicked the winner deep into stoppage time, following a great interception from Shane Fitzmaurice to see Brosna win.

Over the years, there have been many battles between Ballymac and Dromid and today was no different. In a game of two halves, due to the weather conditions, saw enthusiasm held back by resolve. Some great work around the middle of the field by Dan O Shea and Cian Counihan, partnered with some well taken points from the in-form P McCarthy, V Horan & Eanna Reidy. Dromid were marshalled well by a tough Ballymac defense, who turned over ball after ball. Dromid kept in touch with some well taken frees, which left Ballymac go in at the short whistle with a well deserved lead. Half time score Ballymac 0-11 Dromid Pearses 0-05.
Ballymac started the second half with a well taken point from Tomas O Connor, but Dromid’s resolve came to the fore with them dropping back, limiting time and space for the Ballymac forwards. The South Kerry team were able to convert some solid defending into attack quite quickly and saw them outscore Ballymac in the second half by 0-08 points to 0-02 and leaving the final score level at 0-13 apiece. Ballymac may feel disappointed with giving up such a lead, but they could easily have come away with nothing only for some great resolve in hanging on in a game, which previously may have slipped away.
