Credit Union Senior Football League Playoffs
There were a number of important Senior Football League Playoffs down for decision over the Bank Holiday weekend to decide outstanding Promotion and Relegation issues:
Division 1 Relegation Playoff – Milltown- Castlemaine are Relegated
St Marys 0-22
Milltown–Castlemaine 0-10
St Marys had it all their own way at Glenbeigh as they preserved their Division 1 status and by doing so confined Milltown-Castlemaine to Division 2 football next season along with Austin Stacks and Castleisland Desmonds. With Bryan Sheehan and Sean Cournane contributing 9 points between them St Marys led by 11 points to 5 at the break and they went to on stretch that lead on the restart. Points from Jack McCarthy (2) and Shane Murphy reduced the deficit to 5 points but that was as good as it got as Bryan Sheehan kept firing over frees to eventually end up with 14 points and secure their status almost singlehandedly.

Desmonds 0-10 Dingle 2:18
Dingle came to Castleisland this afternoon with the purpose of taking away two points and they duly did with a very compressive display. They opened the scoring in the first minute
with a goal from Micheál Slattery and after five minutes they were leading by 1-03 to no score for the home side and this afternoon was going to be hard for Desmonds. It took Desmonds until the 13th minute to register their first score from a Cian O'Connor free, after Graham O'Connor for Desmonds had his penalty saved in the ninth minute after Luke Lyons was fouled. Dingle’s Conor Geaney was to finish the half with four points with some lovely scoring. Cathal Bambury scored Dingle’s second goal in the 25th minute, to add to his impressive tally of three points, to finish the half with 1-03. Garreth Brosnan added his name to the scoreboard with a point. Paul Geaney kept up his impressive year in football with a lovely point from centre half forward and the only scores from Desmonds were from Cian O'Connor and a 45 from Stephen Bartlett. Half Time Score: Desmonds 0-4 Dingle 2-09.
The second half saw six players for Dingle get on the score sheet with some great team work, points coming from Conor Geaney 0-03, Paul Geaney 0-02, 12th and 14th minute from play, Padraig Sheehy, Cathal Bambury, Luke O'Connor, and Mickey O'Boyle scoring from a great run from corner back in the 16th minute.
Desmonds scored six points in the second half from the boot Cian O'Connor 0-03(Frees), Pat Fitzgerald, Padraig O'Connell, and Graham O'Connor.
Final Score: Desmonds 0-10 Dingle 2-18.

Dr. Crokes 6-22 Glenbeigh/Glencar 1-11
Glenbeigh/Glencar travelled to Killarney to face an unbeaten Dr. Crokes team in the last game of the County League. Glenbeigh/Glencar ran out deserved winners, when the two teams met in the league last time out. Glenbeigh/Glenbeigh did not need anything from the game this time around as, after another great campaign from the players and management team, their division one status had already been secured for another year. Both teams
had a full compliment of players with the exception of Fionn Fitzgerald for the hometeam. Daithi Casey scored the first point of the game, but Gavan O Grady quickly responded with a fine effort to level the match; Crokes had an explosive start opening a 1-06 to 0-01 lead, thanks to a converted penalty, but Glenbeigh/Glencar showed great heart responding with a Tommy Cahill goal and excellent point from Caolim Teahan. The game was over as a contest midway through the half, as Crokes went on a goal bonanza putting five goals past Donal O Neill; in Donal’s defence he was helpless, as the Crokes forwards were on fire and finished every goal effort clinically.
Gavan O Grady converted some great frees but Crokes led at halftime by 5-10 to 1-06. Glenbeigh/Glencar were disappointed to lose Caolim Teahan and Jack Brosnan to injury with the Mid Kerry Championship on the horizon.
It was more of the same in the second half, as Crokes gave a masterclass adding some brilliant scores. Gavan Grady did his best to carry the game to the hometeam, scoring an excellent point from play and four converted frees, as Crokes ran out winners with a 6-22 to 1-11 scoreline. The Gooch gave his own masterclass in the second half, picking out passes at will. It is a credit to the likes of Glenbeigh/Glencar, with their limited resources, to
have their division one status already secured.

Kerins O'Rahillys 2-12 Templenoe 2-14
Kerins O'Rahillys played host to Templenoe in final round of County League; the home side welcomed back David Moran & Barry John Keane from county duty and Cormac Coffey from the US - Jack Savage was a notable absentee.
The game started brightly and it was Templenoe, who were first to settle with three points from Cian Hallissey, Stephen O'Sullivan and Teddy Doyle, which left them in front after just five minutes. Gradually, Kerins O'Rahillys got back into the game, with points from Rory Molloy, Tom Hoare ( 0-02) and the lead point from Barry John Keane after twelve minutes; In between, there were goal chances for both sides with Templenoe hitting the post in the eighth minute and three goal chances for the home side from Tommy Walsh, David Moran and Barry John Keane, with Templenoe doing well to clear all three. The half time score was 0-07 to 0-06 in favour of the home side, with Templenoe's scores coming from Stephen O'Sullivan (2) and Brian Crowley.
Rahillys stretched their lead on the resumption when Tommy Walsh pointed, but Templenoe struck for a good goal when Brian Crowley capitalised on a defensive mistake to find the back of the net. Rahillys quickly wiped out the lead with two great scores from David Moran, but this was to be his last action as he had to retire with an injury. This was a big blow to the home side, who now found themselves under greater pressure as Templenoe started to gain a foothold around the middle and added some good scores via Killian Spillane, Cian Hallissey, and a goal from wing back Dan Cahalane. Rahillys were not done, however, and two late goals from Gearoid Savage and Barry John Keane had the deficit back to two points entering the final minutes - there were to be no more scores, however, with Templenoe holding on for the points.
Best for the home side were Gary Kissane who made some fine saves, Danny O'Sullivan, Tommy Walsh, David Moran, Barry John Keane and John Ferguson.
Templenoe were best served by Gavin Crowley, Adrian Spillane, Cian Hallissey, Stephen O'Sullivan and Killian Spillane

Austin Stacks 1-9
An Ghaeltacht 3-8
Gaeltacht kept their chances of reaching the County League final very much alive with this five points win in a rainy Connolly Park on this Sunday afternoon. On the other hand the result sends Austin Stacks down to division 2 for the 3rd time in their County League history.
Coming up to half time the sides could not be separated (0-4 each) but in the 30th minute Dara Ó Sé raced through the Stacks' defence for a brilliant goal. Stacks did get a point back in added time to leave the West Kerry boys ahead by two at the break (1-4 to 0-5).
Seven minutes after the resumption they had extended that lead to six points with a point from play by Éanna Ó Conchúir and a second Dara Ó Sé goal, this time from the penalty spot.
However Stacks worked their way back into game and in the next ten minutes had drawn level again with a well-worked goal by team captain, Shane O’Callaghan and points from Mannix, Ryan and Bohan.
That was as good as it got, however, for the home side as they managed just one more point in the final quarter while An Ghaeltacht went on to score three more points and a last minute goal from wing-back, PJ Mac Láimh.
Scorers:
Austin Stacks: Shane O’Callaghan (1-1), Alan Duggan (0-3), David Mannix (0-3 frees), Seán Ryan (0-1), Daniel Bohan (0-1)

Austin Stacks 1-12; Glenbeigh/Glencar 2-14.
Glenbeigh/Glencar kept their chances of a League final spot very much alive, with this well-deserved five points win at Connolly Park on this Sunday afternoon. The home side had a good start and were two points up inside the third minute with David Mannix and Pa McCarthy on target. By the tenth minute, the visitors had levelled with a pointed free by Caolim Teahan and one from play by Gavan O'Grady. However, the scores that put this game to bed came in the space of the next two minutes - a goal each from Glenbeigh's two
corner forwards - Kieran Courtney and Daniel Griffin. They went on then to score five more points - two each by Caolim Teahan and Gavan O'Grady and one from Fergal Griffin.
Then, after David Mannix pointed a free, the Rock gave themselves some chance when Darragh O'Brien goaled late in added time, but Kieran Courtney had the last say of the half with a last minute point, to leave the Mid Kerry boys ahead at half time by double scores (2-8 to 1-4).
Stacks tried their best in the second half , outscoring the visitors by 0-8 to 0-6, but those crucial first-half goals by the visitors were the difference in the end. The result leaves Glenbeigh/Glencar in a favourable position for a top two spot, while Stacks on the other hand are in deep trouble of relegation, with only two games remaining for both sides.
Scorers: Stacks: David Mannix (0-9 - six frees), Darragh O'Brien (1-0), Pa McCarthy

Castleisland Desmonds 1-18 St.Marys Caherciveen 4-12
St Marys made the long journey up from South Kerry on Saturday evening, July 22nd, to play Castleisland Desmonds in Round 9 of the this year’s Senior Co. League In Castleisland.
With the scoreboard at half time reading 3-08 for St.Marys to Desmonds 1-06, this game was definitely a game of two halves.
The first half started well for Desmonds, with Pat Fitzgerald opening the scoring with a lovely point from play and then we saw Thomas Hickey score a penalty, after Gearoid Mc Carthy was fouled and McCarthy scored a point himself from play, all within the first three minutes of the game. ( 1-02 to no score). Then, St.Marys’ Paul O’Donoghue scored a goal from play in the fourth minute, followed by a point in the fifth minute. St. Marys scored their second goal from No.15 Darren Casey after seven minutes of play in this fast and furious game of football. Cian O’Connor of Desmonds added a point from a free and it was now 1-03 to 2-01 in favour of the Marys. Sean Cournane, wearing No. 30, then pointed from a free, followed by another from play and topped his play with a goal, to leave the score 3-03 to 1-03 with 19 minutes gone in the first half. Desmonds only scored three more points from Stan Divane, Maurice O’Connell and a free from Cian O’Connor. St. Marys added on another five points from Niall O’Driscoll, Anthony Cournane, and two from
Dan Daly and St. Marys’ Captain, Conor O’Shea, scored in injury time to see the score at half time: Desmonds 1-06, St. Marys 3-08.
However, while Desmonds are still at the bottom of the division 1 table and looking for their first point of the season, great credit must be given to them, as they scored 12 points in the second half, which would normally win them any other match. The first six points were all from play and all within 11 minutes, two from Thomas Hickey, and one each from Cian
O’Connor, Pat Fitzgerald, Gearoid Leonard, and Cathal Hanifin. St.Marys added a point in the eighth minute from Jack Daly and, at this stage, it was only a three point lead for the visitors. Then, St. Marys upped their game and they scored two points from Dan Daly and they then scored the killer goal, against the run of play, by Darren Casey and it was now 4-11 to 1-13, after Desmonds’ Graham O’Connor scored a point for the home side on the 15th minute. From then on, Desmond’s were in full flight scoring five more points, four from Thomas Hickey (1 Play & 3 Frees) and Cian O’Connor, giving the home side hopes of clinching a draw. St.Marys scored their last point from play on the 30th minute from Darren Casey and this was the insurance score they needed for the victory and this
was to see them travel back down to South Kerry with a win in the bag.

Glenbeigh/Glencar hosted An Ghaeltacht on Sunday afternoon in the Co. League, both teams on ten points behind Dr. Crokes in the League table. Glenbeigh/Glencar were without Darran O’Sullivan, Caolim Teahan and Tommy Cahill. The home team started the better with a great score from fullback Kieran Doyle, as he drove up the field, playing a one two with Gavan O Grady, calmly slotting over the bar. This was quickly followed by a great point from Gavan, when Colin McGillicuddy showed great awareness after robbing the ball from his counterpart. Eanna O Conchuir was to have an excellent match, which started with his first of the game to make it 0-02 to 0-01. Tomas O Se levelled the game soon after, as the match had signs of being a great one with some excellent football from both teams. Podge Griffin nudged Glenbeigh/Glencar with another high calibre point. Rory O’Connor pulled off a brilliant save to keep Glenbeigh/Glencar on top and Gavan O’Grady increased the lead with a well taken free. An Ghaeltacht's forwards looked very lively from the start and hit the net for the first time, from the boot of PJ Mac Laimh to take a one point lead. Two tremendous scores came for the home team in the shape of another converted free from O’Grady and a great drive from Pa Kilkenny, a one two with O’Grady and a well taken point. Again, An Ghaeltacht responded with a free.
The match was end to end with An Ghaeltacht resorting to short kick outs, such was the dominance of Colin McGillicuddy and Feargal Griffin in midfield. Two more points were added by the home team from Gavan O’Grady and Podge Griffin, as they tried to open a significant lead playing with the wind. Oigi O Se pointed for the visitors, before Kieran Courtney showed his usual composure in front of goals, when finding the back of Tomas
Mac an tSaor's goal, after great work from O’ Grady and Jason McKenna in the build-up. Feargal Griffin gave Glenbeigh/Glencar a five point lead with yet another fine point, but just as it looked like Glenbeigh/Glencar would make it to the break with a good lead, Tomas O Se found the back of Rory O’Connor’s net again in another slick move for the visitors. Dara O Se brought the game back to within a point, but another excellent point came from
Glenbeigh/Glencar when Jack Brosnan took off like a hare with his long stride to make the halftime score 1-10 to 2-05.
Glenbeigh/Glencar held a two point advantage at the break, but this was quickly eroded in the second half by points from Sean M O Conchuir and Dara O Se. Glenbeigh/Glencar responded with another fisted point, this time from Gavan O Grady after a high quality free from Pa Kilkenny found his cousin in space. An Ghaeltacht started the second half with more urgency and added two more unanswered points, making the score 1-11 to 2-09, but a Gavan O’Grady free kept the home team in touch. An Ghaetacht were dealt a blow, when
Cathal O Flannachta was sent to the line. A Eugene Courtney point brought the home team back to within one point, but the 14 men of An Ghaeltacht were in the ascendancy and scored six excellent unanswered points from Eanna O Conchuir (2) Ciaran O Celleachair, Dara O Se, Oigi O Se and the impressive Tomas O Se. Bernard Murphy scored late on, but it had been 12 minutes or more since their last score. Tomas O Se capped a fine performance with the final score of the game. Glenbeigh/Glencar will be disappointed, after putting in a great performance for long periods, to come up short in the end, but An Ghaeltacht owned the second half and ran out deserved winners by a scoreline of 1-14 to 2-16.

Kerins O Rahillys 3-14 Castleisland Desmonds 0-13
Three goals at vital junctures in this game were enough to give Strand Road vital league points against a dogged Desmonds side, played at the Caherina grounds this evening in ideal conditions for football. Rahillys got off to a tonic start, when they won possession at mid field and a move involving Ryan Carroll, Padraig Griffin and Rory Molloy saw corner forward Daniel Nix billow the net from close range after 30 seconds . Tom Hoare followed with another point and Desmonds had their first score with a Stephen Bartlett
point leaving the score at K.O.Rahillys 1-2 to Desmonds 0-1 after five minutes. Desmonds came back into the game and points from Cian Hickey, O’Connor, Thomas Hickey and Stephen Bartlett left the bare minimum between the sides at the 12th minute 1-2 to Desmonds 0-4. Both sides traded points with Patrick Griffin, Tom Hoare, Ryan Carroll and two well taken points from Rory Molloy left the half time score at Kerins O Rahillys 1-7 to Desmonds 0-8. Desmonds points came from Barry Lynch, Cian
Hickey, O’Connor, Thomas Hickey and Stephen Bartlett getting their eighth point, to leave two points between the sides at the short whistle .
Thomas Hickey had the first point of the second half, to reduce the gap to the bare
minimum and Ryan Carroll replied with a Strand Road point. A great run through saw Kieran Brennan reply for Desmonds, but Rahillys aided by a strong breeze took over and with a Man of the Match performance by Danny O’Sullivan, corner back, they hit a purple patch and a well taken goal by Karl Mullins and points by Tom Hoare, Rory Molloy and Ryan Carroll and Mullins, they led by 2-12 to Desmonds 0-10 at the 40th minute. Stephen Bartlett did reply for Desmonds with two points and Thomas Hickey put over from close range, but a great goal by Donagh O’Brien sealed the issue and
they were convincing winners at the final whistle.

Milltown/Castlemaine 1-09 Austin Stacks 0-12
Milltown/Castlemaine were up against Austin Stacks in Division 1 - Round 8 of the Co. League. Played in Milltown /Castlemaine GAA Grounds in wet conditions, it was the home side who got the first score, a pointed 45 by Jack McCarthy. Milltown/Castlemaine were very unfortunate to lose their captain Jeremiah Hayes to injury in the fourth minute – he was replaced by Eoin O’Brien. Austin Stacks got their first score with a pointed free by David Mannix. The ninth minute saw a cracking goal off the boot of Shane Murphy of M/C – following a great move between Alan Hickey and Cathal Moriarty. M/C were guilty of some passing errors as well as missed scoring chances. However, a free from Donal Dennehy off his left boot gave them a four point lead at the end of the first quarter. In the 18th minute, Cathal Moriarty for M/C was heading for goal, after brilliantly intercepting a short kick out from Austin Stacks David Hennessy. He had to be content with a point after it went over the crossbar, giving Milltown/Castlemaine a score line of 1-03 to AS 0-01. Austin Stacks were guilty too of poor kicking, missing an easy free in the 18th. They redeemed themselves immediately, when David Mannix popped over a point and in the 22nd minute, Darragh O’ Brien gave Austin Stacks another point. Austin Stacks grew in confidence and were causing lots of problems for the Milltown/Castlemaine back line. Despite the tight marking of David Roche, Shane O’ Callaghan managed to pop over a point and in the 25th minute, Stacks added another point, which came from a mark. (Milltown/Castlemaine 1-03, Austin Stacks 0-5). After a gap of ten minutes without scoring, M/C seemed destined for a score by way of solid work by Alan Hickey, but a final stray pass gave possession back to the visitors. The home side grafted hard and were rewarded in the 29th minute with a well taken free by Jack McCarthy. Stacks did have a chance to score before half time by way of a free, but it went wide of the posts. Half time score: Milltown/Castlemaine 1-4, Austin Stacks 0-5.
Alan Hickey made way for Nigel Wrenn at half time for the home side. Despite a lot of possession, it was the visitors who notched up the first two points of the second half. Jonathan O’ Sullivan was very unlucky for Milltown/Castlemaine when he tried to chip the Stacks’ keeper David Hennessy, but he was denied by a great save. A resultant 45 was kicked wide by M/C’s Jack McCarthy. Jack Morgan pointed for Austin Stacks in the fourth minute and David Mannix added another to his tally, by way of a free soon after. In the eighth minute, a good move by Gavin Horan resulted in Cathal Moriarty kicking a superb point for the home side, giving them a one point lead. Gavin McKenna and Jonathan O’ Sullivan linked up well together and a free for a foul on Gavin was converted by Jack McCarthy, to give a score line of Milltown/Castlemaine 1-6, Austin Stacks 0-7. David Mannix added another point for Stacks and this was quickly followed by another point from Fiachna Mangan and a further point in the 12th minute from play gave Austin Stacks the lead for the first time in the game. Shane Guthrie received a black card and Austin Stacks had to adjust their midfield setting. Milltown/Castlemaine introduced Pa Wrenn in the 16th minute, having just completed his shift as a paramedic. A fisted point by young Eoin O’ Brien brought the sides level once again. The home side were guilty of some bad errors in passing and scoring opportunities and so Austin Stacks punished them with two quick points from play. M/C suffered another blow, when goal scorer, Shane Murphy, had to withdraw due to injury. Kieran O’ Carroll came in replace him. The game was delayed for several minutes, due to an injury to Gavin Horan from Milltown/Castlemaine. On resumption, Jack McCarthy pointed a free for M/C to bring them to within one point of their opponents. A copious amount of coloured cards were issued in the closing stages of the game and a free to M/C was calmly popped over by Jack McCarthy to level the scores at full time. Milltown/Castllemaine 1-9, Austin Stacks 0-12. Well done to all of the players on both panels and their respective management teams.

A highly entertaining game was served up to those who saw this Div. 1 clash in the Con Keating park. John Mitchels, with Alan Fitzgerald in tremendous form, assisted two goals in the first half to keep in touch with St Marys, who were in fine point scoring form with the Cournane brothers and Pauly O’Donoghue all finding their range. Brian Curran and Conor O’Shea provided a stiff defence for St Marys, who went in at half time 0-8 to 2-01 up.
The second half began with man of the match Pauly O’Donoghue in rampant form, scoring in the 32,34 and 39th minute with Alan O’ Donoghue and Stevie O’ Mahony replying for John Mitchels. Anthony Cournane for St Marys was now dominating the wings and he slotted home two points in the 42nd and 46th minute. St Marys were now five points up and appeared to be cruising, but George Bastible had other ideas for the Mitchels, as he found the bottom corner to make it a one point game. Alan O’Donoghue tied the game for the Mitchels with a fine point from the wing. The teams traded three points each in the last seven minutes, before Pauly O’Donoghue scored a well-deserved winner. St Marys introduced substitute Jack Daly, who has just rehabilitated from a long injury, for the last ten minutes and he fielded two huge balls to set up the last two scores for St Marys . A very entertaining hour with Pauly O’Donoghue scoring seven points and the Cournane brothers scoring nine between them. Alan Fitzgerald with four points and Stevie O’Mahony with a goal were the pick of the Mitchels, while the Bastible brothers chipped in with a goal each.

Templenoe 0-7 Dr Crokes 0-12.
Templenoe hosted the All Ireland Club Champions in a match played in wet and misty conditions last Saturday evening. Dr Crokes, who played with the wind in the first half, raced into a four point lead with scores from Kieran O'Leary and Colm Cooper, before Daithi Casey added two frees. During this time, Templenoe were struggling to find a way through the Crokes defence and had numerous attacks intercepted, before Martin Reilly eventually opened their account with a point from close range in the 11th minute. The visitors then extended their lead with both midfielders, Paul Clarke and Alan O'Sullivan, splitting the posts to put them 0-6 to 0-1 ahead at the end of the first quarter. The latter almost followed this up with a goal, but his shot rocketed against the crossbar. However, the Crokes maintained control and soon after the evergreen Colm Cooper and Paul Clarke popped over two more points to add to their tallies. Yet Templenoe did finish the half well, with Teddy Doyle successfully landing two 45's over the bar to leave the half time score Templenoe 0-3, Dr Crokes 0-8.
The home side started the second half brightly with a great score from a tight angle through Brian Crowley. With the drizzle getting heavier, Dr Crokes replied with a well taken point from their corner back Brian Fitzgerald. However, Templenoe continued to rally and, in the eighth minute, Stephen O'Sullivan was put through on goal, only to be fouled just outside the box. Brian Crowley converted the resultant free. Then Killian Spillane added another free, to put just a goal between the sides midway through the second half. There was no way though that Dr Crokes, the masters of ball retention, were going to let this game slip. Their patient play saw them tag on three more points through the boots of Shane Doolan, Daithi Casey and David O'Leary to close out the game, before Killian Spillane got a consolation score for Templenoe.
Final Score: Templenoe 0-7, Dr Crokes 0-12.

The team from West Kerry An Ghaeltacht arrived to Castleisland on Friday evening to play Castleisland Desmonds’ senior men’s team in round 7 of the division 1 Kerry County league.
This game was played in beautiful sunshine and after eight minutes of play gone in the first half, we were to see the first score from An Ghaeltacht with Dara O Se open his account with a point from play; this was duly followed by full forward Seán M.Conchuir score the first of his three points in the first half. Desmonds opened their account with full forward Graham O’Connor scoring a point from play on the tenth minute. We were to see the An Ghaeltacht No 13 Oigi O’Se open his account with a point in the next minute. An Ghaeltacht, who were aided with a strong breeze to the backs, and we then saw a mix-up amongst the Desmonds defence and it resulted in a ball across the square and Tomas O’ Se scored the opening goal of the game. Then, Desmonds’ Gearoid McCarthy score a point from play in the 16th minute and on the same minute, Dara O’Se made a run from midfield and he scored the West Kerry’s side second goal and it was now 2-04 to 0-02 on the 16th
minute. Unfortunately, Desmonds were guilty of missing some easy scores in front of
the opposition goals, which was to prove costly in the half and this resulted in An Gaeltacht scoring five points, two from Tomas O’Se and one each from Colm O’Muircheartaigh, PJ. Laimh and Sean M.Conochuir. Desmonds Corner forward Cian Hickey O’Connor was tormenting the Gaeltacht full back line with some great solo running at goal and we were to see him fouled twice and Cian O’Connor scored the resulting frees. Hickey O’Connor added a point from play himself to leave the score at the short whistle: Desmonds 0-05, Gaeltacht 2-09.
Desmonds fared better in the second half and Pat Fitzgerald scored a lovely point from play in the first minute and Sean M.Conochuir replied with another point from play for the visitors. Colm Murphy, who had been introduced to the game, and with him now pulling the strings in the half forward line for the home side, it resulted in three points, one from himself and two frees from Cian O’Connor, but Gaeltacht had come to Castleisland
intending to win this game and we saw them score three more points, three from
Dara O’Se, and 1 each Eanna O’Conchuir, Sean M.Conchuir and Cathal McGearailt, and this was to see them finish the game on 2-16. Desmonds scored three more points, from Cian O’Connor, and one each in the dying embers of the match in Stan Divane and Cian Hickey O’Connor to finish the game on 0-12 at the final whistle.

With the sun shining down on the faithful, ice cream cones and sun block was badly needed for this close encounter in the Kerry County League Division 1. Glenbeigh-Glencar began proceedings with a point from play from Jason McKenna; this was after Dingle had dominated the first five minutes, but failed to score. Cathal Bambury registered Dingle’s first point with a good effort from play. Gavan O’Grady with a point from play and a goal from Caolim Teahan put Glenbeigh-Glencar firmly in control. Dingle tried to rally with a point from Conor Geaney, but Glenbeigh-Glencar rattled them again with another Kieran Courtney goal just before the 15 minute mark. The score after 15 minutes played was, Dingle 0-02 to 2-02 Glenbeigh-Glencar.
The next ten minutes was all Dingle and Conor Geaney, with a point from a free kick and a point from play, Tomás Sheehy with a point from play and two Cathal Bambury points from play, brought them back into the game. Glenbeigh-Glencar kept the scoreboard ticking over with a point from a free kick for Gavan O’Grady. Dingle added another point from play from the boot of Tomás Sheehy, but once again all their good work was undone by their failure to protect their goals, when Gavan O’Grady scored Glenbeigh-Glencar’s third goal. When Referee Seamus Mulvihill blew the whistle for halftime, the scoreboard in Páirc an Ághasaigh read: Dingle 0-08 to 3-03 Glenbeigh-Glencar.
Dingle started the scoring after the restart with a point from a free kick and a point from play from Cathal Bambury. Glenbeigh-Glencar responded with a point from play from Caolim Teahan. A Cathal Bambury point from a free kick and a Conor Geaney point from play for Dingle made it a one point game. Glenbeigh-Glencar responded with a point from a free kick for Gavan O’Grady and Dingle matched them with a Conor Geaney point from play. Gavan O’Grady, again from a free kick, put Glenbeigh-Glencar two up, but a fine point from Dingle’s Tom Leo O’Sullivan left them one behind again. The score after 15 minutes played in the second half was: Dingle 0-14 to 3-06 Glenbeigh-Glencar.
Another Gavan O’Grady point from a free kick for Glenbeigh-Glencar was cancelled out with a Tomás Sheehy point from play for Dingle. Matthew Flaherty with a point from play for Dingle levelled the game and further points from Darragh O’Sullivan, Conor Geaney and two from Cathal Bambury put them four points up with 30 minutes played. Glenbeigh-Glencar responded with another Gavan O’Grady point from a free kick and they went in search of another goal to level the game. With the game in injury time, they worked the ball through the Dingle defence and when Referee Seamus Mulvihill blew the whistle, the travelling supporters shouted penalty and the home supporters shouted free out and game over. Glenbeigh-Glencar were awarded a free in amid much jostling and shouting from both teams and supporters. The resulting Glenbeigh-Glencar shot was saved and went out for a 45. The last kick of the game was the 45 and, when it fell to Dingle’s Tom Leo O’Sullivan to field the ball, he cleared his side’s line. When Referee Seamus Mulvihill blew the whistle for fulltime, the scoreboard in Páirc an Ághasaigh read: Dingle 0-20 to 3-08 Glenbeigh-Glencar.

St. Marys 2-11 Rathmore 3-14
Rathmore visited Con Keating Park on Saturday evening in Round 6 of the County League division one. The visitors were quick off the mark, scoring 10-2 without reply in the first two minutes, before Paulie O'Donoghue was brought down in the square, and Sean Cournane comfortably found the back of the net . It was a high scoring first quarter - 1-04 to 2-05, with a second Rathmore goal coming from John Moynihan in the 15th minute. Paul O'Donoghue scored a great goal in the 25th minute, but the half time score read 2-06 to 2-09 in favour of Rathmore.
The second half started tit-for-tat with points and it seemed like St Mary's could possibly have a chance to close the gap, but a third goal from Rathmore from Donal O'Sullivan sealed the deal with five minutes left on the clock. Full time score read 2-11 to 3-14. St Mary's were missing several key players, but Brian Curran, Conor O'Shea, Sean Cournane and Dan Daly shone for the Cahirciveen side.

Castleisland Desmonds suffered their fifth defeat in a row and stay rooted to the bottom of the Division 1 table of the Kerry County League. The game was played in front of a large crowd on a lovely Summer’s evening, but John Mitchels went away with the spoils.
Desmonds, like last Saturday night against the Dr.Crokes, played very well in the first half going in at half time losing by only two points, with the scoreboard reading Castleisland Desmonds 0-06, John Mitchels 0-08. Desmonds’ scores came from Cian O'Connor (0-04) and 0-01 of each from Brian Leonard and Kieran Brennan. However, the John Mitchels’ scores came from the very impressive James Duggan, playing at corner forward scoring 0-04 (0-02 from play) and points from Sean Maloney, Jack Myers and two from the boot of Alan O'Donoghue, this game was going to be hard for the home side if they were to get their first win in this year’s County League.
The second half started with a bang with the men from Tralee scoring a goal in the second minute, from the boot of Alan O'Donoghue and this was followed by two very good points from play by Mitchels’ midfielder Shane O'Connor in the sixth and seventh minute of the second half and this game looked over for the men in the white and blue jerseys.
Desmonds didn't score till the tenth minute of the hal,f with a free from Cian O'Connor and we saw three more scores from Mitchels’ Alan O'Donoghue, Sean Moloney and Shane O'Connor and it was now 0-07 to 1-13 to Mitchels . In the 23rd minute, Desmonds’ player Tadgh O'Connell suffered a bad shoulder injury, to add to Desmond's troubles and, with the home defence split open, we saw Mitchels score three more scores from Stephen O'Mahony, Alan O'Donoghue and from Man of the Match James Duggan and they finished on 1-16 to Desmonds 0-09.
Subs Used for Desmonds: Graham O'Connor and Neil Durkin for Cathal Hanafin and Sean Lynch. Marc O'Connor for Cian Dom O'Connor.

An open free scoring game saw All Ireland club champions, Dr Crokes, take the spoils in Strand Road’s Rahillys started brightly and with Gearoid Savage to the fore saw them 0-04 to 0-02 in front after just seven minutes, with Gearoid scoring three and a great score from centre back Ross O'Callaghan; a stray kickout saw Daithi Casey find the back of the net and, when this was followed quickly by another major from Jordan Kiely, Crokes were in front 2-08 to 0-07 at half time. Rahillys’ other scorers were Karl Mullins, Ross again and a great score from livewire corner forward, Gearoid Dillane, who knifed through the Crokes defence and skimmed the cross bar with a great drive.
On the resumption, a super move involving Rory Molloy and Ross O'Callaghan saw the ball finish up with John Ferguson, who fired a tremendous drive past Shane Murphy to reduce the deficit to four points. Crokes upped the tempo again and were 2-10 to 1-07 in front, when substitute mid fielder Ambrose O'Donovan found the net with a low shot. From here to the finish, Crokes tacked on some fine scores, though Strand Road never flagged and got some good points from John Ferguson, who accounted for all of their second half scores, 1-05 in total. Templenoe 4-10, Austin Stacks 1-16.
An injury time goal from Stephen O’Sullivan sealed a hard-earned win for Templenoe in a match played in ideal conditions in Templenoe last Saturday evening. This game ebbed and flowed all through and could have gone either way.
The home side, playing with a slight breeze, got off to a dream start with a goal from Brian Crowley, who drilled a low shot to the net, giving goalkeeper David Hennessey no chance. However, Austin Stacks hit back with four unanswered points, all from play, through David Mannix, Alan Duggan, Shane O’Callaghan and Jack O’Shea, to put the visitors one point in front. Templenoe squandered a few chances, before a Danny Cahalane shot from way out took a bounce to the take the ball all the way over the crossbar. David Mannix and Stephen O’Sullivan (free) exchanged scores to leave the sides level after 15 minutes. Then Killian Spillane (free) and Cian Hallissey both raised white flags for Templenoe, but these points were cancelled out by Alan Duggan and Jack O’Shea efforts for the Tralee men. Then, Stacks foward Fiachna Mangan got inside the Templenoe full back line and despatached the ball to the roof of the net from close range, to give them a three point advantage. To their credit, the home side responded strongly with well taken scores from Stephen O’Sullivan and Brian Crowley (0-03) to give Templenoe a slender lead at the break.
Half Time Score: Templenoe 1-08, Austin Stacks 1-07.
Austin Stacks opened the scoring in the second half with two pointed frees from David Mannix, either side of a score from Jack Morgan, who split the posts after making a great solo run up the field. The home side went close for goal twice, before the visitors stretched their lead with an impressive third point from their centre back Jack O’Shea. However, Templenoe eventually did get their second goal in a move involving John Rice and Sean Sheehan, who put Stephen O’Sullivan through to finish superbly. However, Stacks replied with scores from Mikey Collins and David Mannix, before Josh Crowley Holland pounced to fist a high ball into the net from a Teddy Doyle free for a crucial goal to the home side. Yet again, Austin Stacks kept their composure and hit back with Darragh O’Brien and Jack O’Shea both landing the ball over with bar, to give the away side a one point lead coming into the closing minutes. But with the match in the melting pot, it was Templenoe that got on top when it mattered most and they pressed home with points from Killian Spillane (free) and Brian Crowley, before the ever dangerous Stephen O’Sullivan sealed the match with an injury time goal. Austin Stacks did respond with one more pointed free, but Templenoe despite losing Teddy Doyle to a second yellow card, held on for a much needed second county league win. Final Score: Templenoe 4-10, Austin Stacks 1-16.

Austin Stacks 1-13 St. Marys 2-10
Four minutes of added time had elapsed when a way-ward side-line kick by the Stacks was intercepted by St. Marys. The alert Denis Daly was already on the move up-field and he collected the ball and his shot for goal, though initially saved, was scrambled to the net by Seán Cournane to give his side a dramatic share of the points, that looked to have drifted away from them half-way through the second half, when the home side had a six points lead at that stage (1-12 to 1-06). Stacks lead by 1-08 to 1-05 at half time, with both first half goals coming in quick succession half-way through the half – Dan Daly for Marys scoring first in the 14th minute, to be followed two minutes later by a Pa McCarthy goal from a penalty.
This is a result that will have pleased the visitors a lot more than the home boys, who still have just one victory after their four games played (they still have the postponed game against Dr. Crokes to play). Final Score: Austin Stacks 1-13, St. Marys 2-10.

Glenbeigh/Glencar 0-12 Templenoe 0-11
After a great away win against St Marys last weekend, Glenbeigh/Glencar entertained their old rivals Templenoe on Saturday evening. Templenoe have been a bogey side for Glenbeigh/Glencar of late, just managing to beat them in close matches by the odd point. Both teams were without a number of key players due to Kerry commitments, but with Stephen O’Sullivan and Shane Riordan both unavailable for Glenbeigh/Glencar, the management had to juggle things around significantly to try and find a winning formula.
Tommy Cahill was reintroduced after a recent injury, both Jason McKenna and Eugene
Courtney held their places after good performance last weekend and Vincent Hoare started at corner back. There was a strong swirling wind blowing across the field, which was of little advantage to either team. Glenbeigh/Glencar were dealt a big blow in the
opening minutes, when Tommy Cahill had a recurrence of his injury and was replaced by Podge Griffin. Gavan O’ Grady converted his first free to get the scoring underway for the home team, but was quickly responded to by Stephen O Sullivan to level the game. Stephen O’Sullivan converted a free, but moments later, Colin McGillicuddy squared things again with a fine effort. Stephen O’Sullivan was a thorn in the side of the Glenbeigh/Glencar
backs with his darting runs and ability to shoot on sight and scored his third, to tip the balance back in Templenoe's favor. The wind was having a big bearing for both teams, with attempts being missed, but already this had the makings of a great game. Caolim Teahan levelled again with a fine effort from a free for the homeside, in what was developing into a free flowing encounter from end to end. Templenoe opened up an 0-03 to 0-06 advantage, with points from Colm Breen and an impressive Stephen O’Sullivan
(2). Gavan O’Grady converted his second free of the match, before Brian Crowley scored his first point. Feargal Griffin was having a good first half and got on the scoresheet, when his point made it 0-05 to 0-07. Gavan O’Grady, Caolim Teahan, Jason McKenna all linked up well in the Glenbeigh/Glencar's forwards and great work by Daniel Griffin and Bernard
Murphy showing and winning the ball on numerous occasions. Adrian Spillane looked like he had given Templenoe a three point advantage going in at halftime, but up popped one of Glenbeigh/Glencar's most underrated players Ciaran Doyle in the Templenoe half, driving with the ball to score a fine point and reduce the deficit to two. As the halftime whistle blew, both teams had acquitted themselves well in and the crowd knew the game was well and truly in the melting pot.
Glenbeigh/Glencar came out and showed even more resilience and fight in the second half battling for every ball, and it paid dividends when a Gavan O’Grady free and a Jason McKenna point levelled the match at 0-08 a piece. This was a titanic battle at midfield with Glenbeigh/Glencar doing well, and Templenoe were winning their share of breaking ball, but there was no way through the Glenbeigh/Glencar backs, with Vincent Hoare, Ciaran Doyle and Sean Roche keeping Rory O’ Connor’s goal unscathed. Templenoe were reduced to taking opportunities from distance, which was a hard ask given the weather conditions. Templenoe took the lead again with a point from an Adrian Spillane free, but again Glenbeigh/Glencar responded with another well worked team move with Caolim Teahan drawing the game level once more. Brian Crowley edged Templenoe back in front once again in this pulsating encounter, but Glenbeigh/Glencar showed great determination and mental strength responding yet again with a well taken free from Gavan O’Grady. As
the game entered the melting pot, the Glenbeigh/Glencar midfield, half forwards and half backs stepped up a gear and pinned Templenoe back into their own half. A Jason McKenna effort seemed to hang in the air forever, but the locals went into a frenzy when the ball just cleared the crossbar and landed on the top netting, an excellent effort. Templenoe did manage to get the ball up the field, but the Glenbeigh/Glencar’s defence was excellent
overturning the ball. When Caolim Teahan scored his third point of the game, it looked as if Glenbeigh/Glencar would win by two points, but an Adrian Spillane free drew Templenoe back to within one point. Unfortunately for the visitors, there was no time to draw the game level, as the full-time whistle blew. Great credit to Glenbeigh/Glencar who showed great determination in the second half to get over the line and claim a well-deserved win.
Final Score: Glenbeigh/Glencar 0-12, Templenoe 0-11.

Rathmore easily overcame Kerins O’Rahillys in the Round 5 Division 1 game in Ráthbeg. Shane Ryan played in goal and Aidan O’Mahony played at centre back. Rathmore seemed to absorb the loss of Paul Murphy much better than the loss of David Moran and Barry John Keane, who are on county duty with Kerry.
John Moynihan was in fine form up front for Rathmore and scored the opening goal after two minutes and setup his neighbour Dean Fitzgerald for a difficult tap in after thirteen. Shane Ryan regularly found his younger brother Mark from the kick out, where the latter dominated proceedings with the injury free and improving Donal O’Sullivan, who scored the opening and closing points of the half. John Ferguson was the best forward for Kerins O’Rahillys scoring two points, even though he was closely marked by Cathal Murphy. Gearoid Savage kicked the other two scores for Kerins O’Rahillys from a free. The half time score was Rathmore 2-07 to Kerins O’Rahillys 0-04.
The game was effectively over with no major threat from the visitors in the second half. Eoin Lawlor kicked a point in the second minute, and by then all six forwards had scored. Rathmore ran the bench and Mark Reen continued to score freely after much endeavour. Gearoid Dillane kicked a good free for Kerins O’Rahillys, but by then Rathmore had an additional six points on the board. Final score: Rathmore 2-13, Kerins O’Rahillys 0-05.

St Mary's hosted Glenbeigh/Glencar in Division 1 of the County League on Sunday. Gavan O'Grady kicked the first score of the game in the fifth minute, while it took the home side ten minutes, before Anthony Cournane put a score on the board. Denis Daly and Sean Cournane then both scored points of their own and the visitors replied with four points unanswered. In the 18th minute, Gavan O'Grady hit the back of the net, but the goal was disallowed, for hopping the ball twice. In the 23rd minute, Liam O'Connell scored a point from play, but Gavan O'Grady and Caolim Teahan ended the first half scoring 0-02 and 1-01 respectively. The half-time score was 0-04 to 1-08 to the visitors. Dan Daly opened the scoring for St Mary's, with Caolim Teahan and Kieran Courtney swiftly answering with a point a piece. Sean Cournane scored a free, but Glenbeigh danger man, Gavan O'Grady, scored two frees in reply. Kieran Courtney managed to net a second goal for the visitors and Sean Cournane's third free of the game seemed poor consolation for the home side. O'Grady and Courtney both pointed from play, and in the 26th minute, it appeared St Marys were trying to make a comeback, with two points from Denis Daly and a penalty from Sean Cournane. However, it was too little too late. Glenbeigh/Glencar came out on top in a full time score of 10-9 to 2-14. Best for St Mary's were Brian Curran, Sean Cournane and Denis Daly.

Templenoe had a very comprehensive win over Milltown/Castlemaine in Round 4 of the County Senior Football League. The visitors played with the strong breeze in the first half, but failed to capitalize on this advantage leaving Templenoe to kick the opening two points of the match from Brian Crowley and Killian Spillane. The first ten minutes were very scrappy, with both teams kicking away possession, and on the tenth minute David Roche kicked Milltown/Castlemaine’s only point of the half. Templenoe started to pick off the scores as they grew into the game, kicking four points in a row, and on the 24th minute, Stephen O’Sullivan finished off a great Templenoe move with a goal.
Milltown/Castlemaine did work plenty of scoring opportunities, but were guilty of numerous wides through the half, from both open play and placed balls. Their situation got much worse with a minute to go in the half, when Brian Crowley scored Templenoe’s second goal to leave the half time score, Templenoe 2-08, Milltown/Castlemaine 0-01.
Templenoe continued the scoring trend and kicked two early points after the interval from Stephen O’Sullivan and Brian Crowley, but the following ten minutes saw Milltown/Castlemaine kick four points in succession from Cathal Moriarty (2), Donal Kelleher, and Jack McCarthy. The visitors’ momentum was halted, when Stephen O’Sullivan scored his second goal of the match on the 19th minute and Templenoe kicked four unanswered points soon afterwards. Both teams started to bring on substitutes, and in the last few minutes, a scoring burst from Milltown/Castlemaine added two goals and two points to the scoreline with centre forward Pa Wrenn doing the damage by scoring 1-02. The final whistle saw Templenoe victorious on a score of Templenoe 3-15, Milltown / Castlemaine 2-07 and picking up two very valuable County League points.

Kerins O Rahillys gained two valuable league points on Saturday night, when proving too good for their town rivals on a final scoreline of 0-16 to 1-08. Playing with the aid of the breeze into the score board end, Rahillys found themselves behind within half a minute, when Stacks worked the ball through for full forward Alan Duggan to fire to the net; However, that score was nullified within 10 minutes with Rory Molloy (operating on the "40") firing over three points from play and Gavin O’Brien adding another. Rahillys fell behind again on the 13th minute, but then pushed on in the next ten minutes with fine scores from Danny and Diarmuid O'Sullivan and a brace from John Ferguson, who was proving a handful for the Stacks defence. Rahillys were unlucky not to have goaled on a couple of occasions, when Diarmuid O’Sullivan had a shot blocked on the line and John Ferguson firing off the post with the keeper well beaten. The final ten minutes before half time was a poor patch for Rahillys, when they allowed Stacks back into the game and they found themselves behind at the short whistle 1-06 to 0-08. Rahillys also lost Shane Brosnan to a recurrence of his hamstring woes on the stroke of half time and he was replaced by Darragh McElligott; Stacks were reduced to 14 men five minutes before half time, when Denis McElligott was shown a second yellow card and this was to prove a major handicap for them in the second half.
On the resumption, Cormac Coffey drove forward and split the posts to level matters, but Rahillys fell behind again to a converted free by Shane O'Callaghan on the 35th minute; this was as good as it got, however, as Rahillys assumed control around the middle with Cormac Coffey, Cian Sayers , Karl Mullins, John Ferguson and Gavin O'Brien in command, which led to a succession of scores from John Ferguson ( 3), Cormac Coffey(1) & Gavin O’Brien (2), to leave Kerins O Rahillys ahead 0-15 to 1-07 approaching the final minutes. Rahillys defence was on top too in this period, with Ross O'Callaghan and Tommy Begley imperious and the final scoring was shared, when Stacks had only their second point of the half and first from play on the 57th minute and, fittingly, it fell to Cormac Coffey to have the final say, when raiding forward, he found his range to leave Kerins O Rahillys victors on a five point winning margin. Final score: Kerins O Rahillys 0-16, Austin Stacks 1-08.

After a rather timid first half, which produced only ten scores (the home side ahead at half time by 0-06 to 0-04), the second half really came to life with almost twice as many scores (19 in total), including a plethora of goals (five for the home side and two for the visitors). The first goal of the game came in the 40th minute, with the Rock captain,
Shane O’Callaghan, on target and when Shane landed a second, four minutes
later, this left the home side ahead by twelve points at that stage (2-11 to 0-05).
However, in the next five minutes, Desmond had cut that lead to just four when they added 2-02 without reply – the two goals coming from Thomas Hickey (team captain) and Graham O’Connor. With three late goals for the home side, from three different players – Shane O’Callaghan (his hat-trick), David Mannix and Pa McCarthy – gave the Tralee side their first League win of the season with 15 points to spare at the end.

Glenbeigh/Glencar 1-13, Kerins O’Rahillys 2-16
Glenbeigh/Glencar welcomed Kerins O Rahillys as they looked to continue their impressive start to this season’s league campaign. Rahillys got the scoring underway opening up a two point lead in the early stages, Tommy Cahill scored the first point for Glenbeigh/Glencar and a Daniel Griffin point soon after drew the teams level. Cian Sayers nudged Rahillys back into the lead but Glenbeigh/Glencar were playing well and looked capable of beating their counterparts. Tommy Cahill scored his second point after great work involving Gavan O Grady and Pa Kilkenny in the build up. Minutes later, Caolim Teahan showed great composure as a great low, hard drive from distance blistered into the back of Gary Kissane's net to take a 1-04 to 0-03 lead. Both teams were playing great football creating a host of scoring chances as the match was end to end. Tom Hoare finished a good team move with a point for Rahillys but was quickly cancelled out by a converted Gavan O Grady free. John Ferguson added another for the visitors but Glenbeigh/Glencars advantage was extended with good points from Stephen O Sullivan and Tommy Cahill. It looked as if Glenbeigh/Glencar would build up a significant advantage on the scoreboard but credit to Rahillys, who kept coming back and with points from Ferguson, Sayers and Tommy Walsh's
first they reduced the deficit to two points 1-07 to 0-08. Bernard Murphy has had an excellent start to this year’s campaign and came up with another
important point finishing an excellent team move. Rory O Connor pulled off a great point blank save to keep Rahillys at bay but they did manage to score a point from the follow up. Both teams managed a point a piece in the closing stages of the half with a converted Gavan O Grady free and another fine effort from John Ferguson.
Rahillys had an opportunity to cut the lead to a single point with a handy free just before the halftime whistle but a savage miss kept Glenbeigh/Glencar’s two point advantage intact. Halftime score:- Glenbeigh/Glencar 1-09, Kerins O’Rahillys 0-10. Podge Griffin came in for Vincent Hoare after half time . One of few bright moments in the second half for Glenbeigh/Glencar came early on as Pa Kilkenny kicked a fine point to open a three point lead. Rahillys moved Tommy Walsh into full forward and his physical presence gave the home team problems from the outset and dividends paid off as Tommy kicked their first score of the half . Glenbeigh/Glencar and Rahillys were both guilty of not taking their chances in the early encounters of the half but a
defining moment came when Rahillys were awarded a penalty when Sean Roche
took down Padraig Griffin as he bore down on goal, Rory O Connor was unlucky as Karl Mullins poorly taken penalty just managed to scrape inside the post to give Rahillys a 1-10 to 1-11 lead. Glenbeigh/Glencar were still very much in the game but as they missed a few opportunities their heads seen to drop and Rahillys scored five unanswered points with Tommy Walsh proving a constant danger. Glenbeigh/Glencar did rally late on and a
converted Tommy Cahill Free and point from Gavan O Grady brought the boys back to within four points but any sign of a comeback was wiped out with a late Diarmuid O Sullivan goal. Caoilim Teahan scored a late consolation point for Glenbeigh/Glencar. It was a disappointing outcome after a great first half performance. A close exciting game, which ended in a draw, was played in glorious conditions at the Con Keating park this Sunday afternoon. St Marys got off to a lightning start with man of the match Pauly O’Donoghue scoring the first three points from play in the opening ten minutes. St Marys were cruising after 25 minutes, but then ace corner forward for Dingle, Tomás Mac an tSíthigh ( 2-01,) was left one on one twice in the inside line and he struck for two well taken goals in the 26th and 29th minute,s to leave the score 2-03 to 0-08 in favour of Dingle at half time.
Dingle, playing with a strong wind in the second half, kept a slender lead till the 50th minute, courtesy of three superb frees by sub Dáithí Ó Conchúir and the midfield dominance of Dara Ó Súilleabháin. However, St Marys with the Cournane brothers, Dan Daly and Pauly Donoghue (6pts) displaying some of that great forward pla,y which has been the hallmark of this team for the last three years tied the game twice in the last ten minutes. A free, converted by Dan Daly in the 60th minute, was the final score in a highly entertaining game. Full time St Marys 0-15 Dingle 2-09.

Dr Crokes 3-12 Rathmore 2-12 played in Lewis Road
In a game which was played at championship pace, Dr. Crokes got out on top with an injury time goal. The game looked like ending in a draw as we entered into time added on. Rathmore were on the attack, but a great ball win by substitute Brian Fitzgerald led to a Crokes attack and a wining goal by Tony Brosnan.
The teams exchanged points on three occasions in the first ten minutes. A goal by the visitors in the 11th minute put them a goal in front. A goal and a point by Tony Brosnan put Dr. Crokes a point ahead at the end of the first quarter. The teams just scored two points each in the second quarter to leave the home team leading at half time 1-6 to 1-5.
Whatever was said to the visitors at half time, they came out strongly at the start of the second half. They had three points without reply in the first five minutes of the third quarter. Dr Crokes had a point in the 39th minute, but a goal by the visitors two minutes later put them four points clear. The home side kicked two points to Rathmore one in the next few minutes, to leave the visitors a goal in front at the end of the third quarter. Crokes got back on level terms in the 47th minute, when Chris Brady struck for a goal. The game was now there to be won. Both sides sent over a free each and exchanged a point each from play as we entered injury time. Rathmore went on the attack, but Dr Crokes won a ball in their defensive area, attacked up field and scored a match winning goal.
The highlight for Dr Crokes was Tony Brosnan's 2-4 from play and goalkeeper Shane Murphy three points from placed balls, two 45's and a free outside the 45 and his great kick outs which set up many attacks. Rathmore should be disappointed, as they probably deserved a draw after giving a great display. Both sides were missing a number of influential players, but the quality of the football showed that both sides have plenty strength in depth.

On the resumption, scores were again level at 0-09 apiece, when John Ferguson got on the end of a long ball from Tommy Walsh to punch to the net after eleven minutes: 1-09 to 0-09. John Moynihan got the first of his two goals in the twenty fifth minute, after receiving a long pass from Mark Ryan and finishing low to the left of Tomas Mac an tSaoir with the minimum of effort. In very heavy conditions, when scores were hard to come by, this was to be a very decisive score. Neither team managed another score for the remainder of the half, despite much effort on both sides, leaving the half time score: Rathmore 1-02 v An Ghaeltacht 0-03
The second half was two minutes old, when Brian O’Leary was fouled and Mark Reen found the net with a well struck shot. An Ghaeltacht got the next two scores from Sean Michael Ó Conchuir in the third and fourth minute. By that point, they were thirty minutes without a score mainly due to solid defending by Rathmore, where Brendan O’Keeffe and Cathal Murphy were in the central positions. Rathmore had a big hold on the game, kicking four points between the sixth and tenth minute through Mark Reen, Daniel O’Sullivan, Donal O’Sullivan and John Moynihan. John Moynihan finished off the game with his second goal in the twenty fifth minute. The opening round of this year’s County Senior Football League kicked off in very wet and blustery conditions. Templenoe played with the aid of the breeze, but Brian Sheehan opened the scoring with a pointed free. Templenoe’s first score came from a Stephen O’Sullivan point, and followed up soon afterwards with a point from a Brian Crowley free. After these opening scores, it took another ten minutes for another. Both teams were struggling to get ball into the scoring areas, and Templenoe were not making advantage of the wind.

Despite playing into the wind, Templenoe started brighter, and Denis O’Neill kicked a point to extend their lead. - John Mitchels
Glenbeigh/Glencar 1-12 John Mitchels 2-06
Glenbeigh/Glencar hosted John Mitchels in their first game of the County League on Sunday afternoon. This would be Jeremiah Hoare’s last game for a number of weeks as he is heading to the States. Jeremiah has gone from strength to strength in recent years and has been a big part of the team’s recent successes and will be an undoubted big loss. Glenbeigh/Glencar were happy to have Darran O Sullivan available after Kerry’s drawn National League game with Dublin the evening before.
Glenbeigh/Glencar had got off to a poor start in their last couple of league campaigns and were anxious to get out of the blocks with maximum points from this encounter. Mitchels had a brilliant start scoring two goals in the opening minutes, as Donal O Neill was left with no chance in goals, as two defence lapses left the Glenbeigh/Glencar goal open for Niall
Sheehy, who dispatched both into the back of the net. Kieran Courtney has added great point scoring to his game last season and converted another beauty today as Glenbeigh / Glencar started their fight back. Alan O Donoghue scored Mitchels’ first point of the match, but a great move from Glenbeigh/Glencar and excellent pass from Bernard Murphy was excellently dispatched into the back of Dermot Raggett’s goal by Kieran Courtney to make it 1-01 to 2-01. The home team were in the ascendancy with Pa Kilkenny, in particular,
being very impressive, as he turned defence into attack on numerous occasions. Jason McKenna came on for Daniel Griffin late into the first half, as an industrious Bernard Murphy scored a fine point, quickly followed by a converted Tommy Cahill free to bring Glenbeigh/Glencar back to within one point as the halftime whistle blew. Half-time score Glenbeigh/Glencar1-03 to John Mitchells 2-01.
Jeremiah Hoare replaced Vincent for the second half, as the home team looked to kick on from their strong finish to the first half. Gavan O Grady got the scoring under way for the homeside with an excellent point. Pa Kilkenny finished off one of his marauding runs with a point, as Glenbeigh/Glencar took the lead for the first time in the match. Alan O Donoghue levelled the game ten minutes into the half, but it was Glenbeigh/Glencar that were the
more cohesive unit, as they turned the screw scoring five unanswered points from Colin McGillicuddy (1), Bernard Murphy (1), Darran O Sullivan (1), Gavan O Grady (2). The second point from Gavan was an outstanding effort, as he slotted over from an ridiculously acute angle. Niall Sheehy pulled a point back for Mitchels from a free 17 minutes into the half, but two more points from Gavan O Grady and Bernard Murphy made the game look safe 1-12 to 2-03. Podge Griffin and Shane Riordan replaced Stephen O Sullivan and
Tommy Cahill. Mitchels rallied well for the final minutes with points from Conor Hurley and two frees from Sheehy, to make the final score: Glenbeigh/Glencar 1-12 John Mitchels 2-06.
It wasn't a vintage performance, but a great 20 minute spell in the second half from Glenbeigh/Glencar, scoring 8 points from play deservedly got them over the line.

Liam Brosnan kicked a point from a free for Dingle, but this was cancelled out through a pointed free from Tommy Walsh for Kerins O’Rahillys. Kieran O’Mahony levelled the game with a point from play for Kerins O’Rahillys and it looked like both teams would share the spoils. This was not to be as Dingle won a free kick about forty yards out from the Kerins O’Rahillys goal and substitute Mark Evans kicked the ball over the bar, to put Dingle one up in injury time. Kerins O’Rahillys broke up- field and should definitely have levelled the game again, or even snatched a late winner, but Gavin H Curran saved brilliantly from a Rory Molloy shot. When Referee Billy O’Shea blew the full time whistle, the scoreboard read Dingle 0-12 to Kerins O’Rahillys 0-11.
